Resurrecting an old thread that was lost in the Great Migration of 2017. See here for the original content as found on the Internet Archive… and special thanks to @garnetpalmetto and @SniperHF for going the extra mile to find it. The goal of this project is pretty simple. I set out to create a complete map of the aftershocks of the epic 1992 trade of Eric Lindros from Quebec to Philadelphia. That trade set off a domino effect of transactions which has greatly impacted all 31 franchises over the past 26 years. While it’s true that there have been other trades which have created a chain of other moves around the league, I’m quite convinced at this point that the Lindros trade is unique in its breadth and depth of impact. For the purposes of this project, I recorded ONLY connections made by subsequent trades. I did not count waiver claims, free agent signings, salary dumps, or other "indirect" consequences. For those who just want to see the bottom line: Total players affected: 712 Future draft picks affected by this trade: up to 17 Trades farthest removed from the original deal: 16 degrees (to find the 4 trades at this level, CTRL+F search for [[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[) As always, I want to acknowledge the brilliant database http://prosportstransactions.com, without which this sort of analysis would not be feasible. Also thanks to the users including @pens4ever who have caught errors in the tree so they could be corrected.
