This is not how you make the playoffs.
Flyers are still somehow worse then the Canes in OT ...I don't know how.
This is not how you make the playoffs.
Without getting on Faulk too much, because I thought he played well overall, he made two decisions in the OT that I just can't understand:
1) got the puck with plenty of time near his own blueline with plenty time and space to clear. Took a little muffin bounce off the board, CBJ picks it up easily and regroups just outside of their zone, forcing us back. Why? Hammer that **** off the boards, at that angle you'll get a two-banker, no icing, and a chance to line change
2) passed on an obvious pinch that could've gotten us a 2 on 1. I don't really understand playing it that conservative in OT - the point is preserved and this team has little or no upside in getting it to a shootout. This is probably more on coaching, but surely they have the stats that show we suck **** in shootout. Why not just be aggressive in OT when you have the chance?
I will say this - **** shootout - continuous 3 vs 3 OT needs to happen, how long they will not score in that format? I would say maximum of 10 minutes and there would be a goal
Don't hold your breath. Ronnie likes what he's got. Maybe after 5-6 more seasons of the same, we can begin to explore a big trade.
Besides, we won last game before this so everything is fine.
I'm sure you remember the historic Justin Peters shootout. That was the worst one.Wow, that was the worst shootout I’ve ever seen.
I don't get it. Its the SAME every year already. Other opponents play their backup goalies against us pretty much every game. We still lose. Especially in OT or shootout.
At the end of each year we rearrange some deck chairs on the titanic. Make some modest improvements. Then random teams like the BJs or Flyers or Devils or whomever all make WAY BETTER changes somehow, and actually play with better results. A team that misses the playoffs retools and is back in it again right away.I mean look at Boston. They managed to win with literally their entire AHL team on the ice due to injuries and freaking Khudobin in net. The Canes have one injury. Can you imagine what would happen if a couple of more guys went down? Tampa Bay loses Big Ben and does even better without him.
We're all happy about Slavin and Aho and we should be. And the team as a whole looks better. they certainly are fast. But our opponents all look better too- like all these other teams draft multiple Slavins and/or Ahos every stinking year and just cycle through them. And more importantly they have the will to win. To actually hold a one goal lead, to gut it out in OT instead of wilt, etc.
That's why I continue to think its an organizational problem, from top to bottom. A culture of mental fragility from the owner on down. Hopefully Karmonous fires himself soon enough by selling. Until then, if they can't manage to turn it around this season and make the playoffs, they need to ****-can every swinging richard from the season ticket salesmen right on up to the GM. Just flush it and bring in people who have NEVER been involved with this team in any way shape of form. Plus a coach and a GM who have actually done both jobs before.

winner in a shootoutNew winner for unhinged rant of the month in GDT. With no games left in November, good timing!

Was at the Nashville Chicago game, should I be super pissed and calling for everyone to be traded and kirk laviricers to be fired or are we going about to win multiple Stanley Cups?
I don't typically watch the shootout. Partly because they always lose, and partly because it's boring as **** to watch (to me). Not the best way to end a game.
This one I only watched because it was during a commercial break of the CW's Superhero special.
Please no.I'm sure you remember the historic Justin Peters shootout. That was the worst one.
