Talentwise Brule is NHL ready. His body, that another question... He was also playing injured for most of the second half of the season last year.

My picks heading into the draft were this:

1) Crosby
2) JJ
3) Brule
4) Ryan

I debated for a while between the last two and I came to this decision strictly due to the fact that I watched Brule in juniors many times and he is very aggressive and plays in your face, he skates, he hits and boy can he shoot the puck. That is how I would draft today.

Not having Brule in the top 10 is an absolute joke....only here at HF. :shakehead

The guy had 4 points in 7 NHL games and 27 points (17g, 10a) in 17 games so far for the Giants.

Yes, I understand the injury concerns but give me a break - the kid is only 18 and look how he's responded since being back with the Giants.

To say that he isn't a top 10 talent is rediculous. In fact, I think he's risen his stock with his performance since his injury problems.

No he isn't, my opinion of him hasn't improved in even the slightest margin.
Though considering I felt he was #2 that's no slight to him.

Some people are having problems with my post, but I didn't explain it very well methinks.

That top ten list was only who I thought would have the better careers at the NHL level. I would be borderline Pejorative Slured to say that Brule didn't have top ten talent; in fact, he's got at least top five talent. But I'm just having trouble believing that Brule will be effective/healthy at the top level.

The list was by no means an evaluation of talent, but of estimated productivity.

I could always be wrong. Hell, I thought Kyle Wellwood wouldn't play more than ten games at the NHL level and look at how stupid I look.

Brule is playing awesome now.
In 17 WHL games, he has 17 goals and 10 assists.
Last week, he was named player of the week and he just got a hat trick in the game yesterday.

I would rank him #3

Crosby
Johnson
Brule

4.Pouliot
5.Ryan

no, you are crazy...

Staal is one of if not the best defencemen in the chl... he is out of his league and almost made the rangers this year... everytime i see him live he does nothing but impress... he will be in the top 5 outta this draft class... Price i'd put 11th or 12th...

Bourdon nearly made the team this year, what's your point? By that logic you would take him over Johnson.

As high as his talent level is, I'd have to agree here. He's an accident waiting to happen.

That, or he'll be physically ineffective in the NHL and will be bypassed by a good number in that draft.

1. Crosby
2a. Ryan
2b. Johnson
4. Pouliot
5. Kopitar
6. Bourdon
7. Zagrapan
8. Lee
9. Staal
10. Rask

Just a :biglaugh: will do for this ranking

crosby
johnson
brule
bergfors
ryan

Pouliot has not been impressive in the O this year, but i think he will be a first liner, but not a top 5 talent anymore

I almost throw my coffee at the T.V. when the habs took price over brule. I thought we were going to steal him at no.5, he probably should have gone third behind crosby and johnson, and has done nothing to change that opinion. habs are going to regret this one for the next 15 years.

I dont see how Setoguchi has fallen AT ALL in any of these lists. If anything hes proven hes worth higher maybe even.
because he is whiny to the refs and too lazy to backcheck and has an attitude. i really hope he grows up because he has talent just not playing with heart.
