Boston (AP),

The Bruins blew their season finale this evening suffering a humiliating loss to the Dallas Stars who went up three goals in the first period. Boston tried to make up the deficit but alas could not muster any offense - what a surprise - not.

Sheldon Souray was going to be benched as he sustained an injury the night before, but GM Krueger decided to keep him in the game and moved him to the 4th line. That was the big mistake - his misconduct penalty late in the first period lead to a powerplay goal for the Stars, and the Bruins ended up losing 4-3. That lone PP goal was the difference maker in the end. Terrible. Just terrible.

With the playoffs on the line - the Bruins fizzled infront of the fans. Now the fans can only hope that the Lightning lose or tie their final game ( possible ). Or the Penguins lose their final two games ( snowballs chance in hell ).

Their future will likely be written tomorrow night. If not - the following night.

A shame that it has to come to this, but for this wayward bunch - it should come as no surprise that their fate resides in the hands of others. The fans will be drinking heavily tomorrow in an attempt to sway the Hockey Gods in favour of playoff hockey for their beloved Bruins. Long live Beantown.
