There's always an issue of "looking disinterested" vs "being disinterested".

Babcock hasn't been overly critical of Nylander's play, which is everything that I need. I'd love to know how O'Neill is measuring this "lack of compete".

Brown has been impressive so far. Hoping he makes the Leas next year out of camp.

I think Brown is 99.99% already pencilled in to next years line up.

He was close of making it after the last camp and what he has shown so far looks interesting. Definitely NHL ready. And just like with Nylander and the other rookies that does not mean they are finished developing. Still lots that needs to be fixed and fine tuned in their game, but that can do that in the NHL.

Yup it would have to be an offseason injury to stop him from making the team next year.
He shold have made it this year if babcock is to be believed.

What shines through is Brown's intelligence on the ice. He's a mediocre athlete but his on-ice awareness is exceptional and he has a complete game. He's like a Ray Whitney or Sam Reinhart type of player.

Nice to see the leafs get a steal in the latter rounds.

Just off the top of my head, Kaberle, Gunnarsson and Strahlman (although he didn't become great until he got to NYR) were all drafted in the 7th rd or later.

so 3 players in 25 years?

bottom line we deserve a kid to come out of no where

Except they aren't just 3 NHL fillers, Kaberle and Strahlman are top pairing dman, and even Gunnarsson was/is a top 4 guy when he's healthy. That's really amazing drafting given that rarely do 7th+ rounders even become 4th line/3rd pair regulars.

Komarov in the 6th round isn't too bad either. Just a shame he didn't come over a bit earlier. Although I guess that extra development played a part in how he plays now.
