Every time this thread gets bumped I think he got extended.

He reminds me of Eric Fehr.

That's a Fehr assessment....

I think Connolly is a better skater, stick handler and has a similar shot. He's a better possession player too and more physical.

True. But its not easy. Can you think about a better comparable? Jeff Toms! You'd think with the thousands of players we have seen....

Bobby Carpenter

Not a bad pull - BCon seems taller and more apt to shoot first.

I remember getting this in the mail. Someone must have hacked err infiltrated SI to put a hockey guy on the cover.

Is that... Rob Dibble? Going from very distant memory. Name the Isle.

Just something about how Connolly skates and shoots reminds me of Carpenter. For some reason I remember older Carpenter with constant 5 o'clock shadow like Connolly. Also ..BC

Isle is Goring isn't it?

The wannabe goalie is Pat Ribble...

I had to google to confirm... the Joffa Butch Goring it is.

I remember a lot of hop in Carpenters skating style, Connolly not quite as much.

Probably true RH.

Just a name the popped into my head for some reason.

Connolly does seem to take some penalties tho. Probably a bit too many.

I always say the guys still finding their way, their mentors are positions in front of them. So, he is unknowingly just doing what Oshie and some extent Williams do. If it works for them....

Willy is likely learning some from watching Connolly. Hold the puck a bit more, move laterally if possible, and fire away.

Its that kind of streak Connolly is on....

Gets crosschecked into the boards and gets up limping near the goal line....BAM puck is right on his stick and he puts it in from a tight angle before the goalie or D figured out what happened.

Pucks seem to find you when you play with confidence

Perfect -- he's the one guy that desperately needed/still needs that sort of streak.

It would be a huge coup for the Caps to help/build him back up to realize his draft potential. Even a 20G guy with good 2-way play and a team-friendly contract is a great asset to get for free -- and this looks realistic.
