The Braves announced Coppolella's resignation "is a result of a breach of MLB rules regarding the international player market."

Whoa. Crazy. This is from the ESPN article:

Yahoo! Sports reported Monday that MLB discovered the breach of international signing rules as part of a much larger investigation of the Braves and Coppolella, including the Atlanta's domestic draft practices and Coppolella's treatment of team employees.

They fought so hard to keep Coppolella from going to another team when he was Hart/Wren's assistant and now this happens just two years after he was made GM.

Hart goes back to the GM chair, yet again.

A good sleeper candidate is Doug Melvin IMO. Or maybe its time for Kevin Towers to resurface.

That would be hilarious if Towers became GM. Then maybe he could trade all the good prospects back to Arizona for nothing.

Last year, a prominent agent received a phone call from a 770 number. On the other end was John Coppolella, the general manager of the Atlanta Braves. He wanted to talk about one of the agent’s clients. The agent found this particularly curious, not because the Braves liked the player but because he was playing for a different organization and it was August, a full 2½ months before he would hit free agency. Never before had he seen a general manager so blatantly disregard tampering rules.

LOL.

I wonder if possible criminal charges may be coming. The way the media is talking about this and the forced resignation, you wonder how badly he messed up.

Jesus Christ.... who taught this guy how to GM?! He was one of those up-and-coming executives in the Daniels/Friedman mold at one point.

Braves to pursue current Royals GM Dayton Moore and former Marlins GM Dan Jennings

Jennings would be an awful hire IMO.

I can honestly see Moore going back to ATL. He made his name with the Braves and that's where he learned how to do his job. Plus I'm not sure if he wants go thru another rebuild with the Royals, now would be the time to get out and a good time to join the Braves.
