The Metropolitan Division was hell last year and would’ve been hell this year. There were seven teams with a legitimate claim for a playoff spot and one more with a fighting chance if everything went right. There’s a reason the newly formed East Division may be even more treacherous though even if there are now only six legitimate teams. That’s because the division added a team to the top of the pile, an elite one.

The Boston Bruins have been one of the league’s best teams in each of the past three seasons. They won the Presidents’ Trophy last year and were one win away from a Stanley Cup the year prior. Most of the core remains intact and they’ll be a very difficult team to bet against in 2021. There should be no surprises here, Boston is the favorite in the East.

This is also only what the Bruins are at the start of the season. There’s room for additions and the team has a fair bit of cap flexibility. They still have time to change their makeup and make a similar Muzzin-like addition to really solidify the top four. That one piece on the left side would go an incredibly long way for them.

The Bruins only have so many more chances to make a Stanley Cup run. With the age of their core, this might be the team’s last best shot. Boston is good enough now to get there and are one of the league’s best team regardless of its strange roster construction. One more piece would quiet any doubts though and it might be enough to put the team over the edge. The Bruins are already scary good as is. They would be terrifying then.

Those fourth line and bottom four projections are not very exciting.

Also, the middle 6 projections can't be accurate. Both those lines are gonna be playing hot potato with all of the wingers, all season long.

Then of course we have that top line, which is so cool and fun to watch...until it matters.

Sure this team really needs a LD, but I can't sit here and pretend the forward groups aren't a major unknown at best.

I think if you're going to say Dom's projections are off, you need to cite what you don't agree with regarding his methodology. He isn't guessing here, he's using his metrics to project play based on past performance.
