Allen owes Schenn a few round of beers.
Why? I missed a replay of Benn's goal but those Weber goals were from Shea Weber....one of the only point shooters that can down right blow it by a unscreened goalie. That 2nd goal against curved at least a foot from wide to in the post. The 3rd goal from what I saw was a screened bomb from a guy known to do that.

I havn't seen too many downright bad goals against Allen.

Was a dominant game by the Blues. Can't blame Allen for the curveball but he hasn't looked as good as he did in the playoffs.

Keep Steen with Schenn & Schwartz. Those two carry the play and keep Steen from trying to do too much.

Tarasenko is forcing too many passes and whiffing on prime chances. He’s letting it get to him mentally. He’s banging his stick and shaking his head way too often in frustration. The positive is he’s still generating great chances. He needs to bear down and bury one and it’ll start the confidence going in the right direction.

Jaskin deserves a shot to play with Schwartz and Schenn. He’s played well this year despite moving all over the lineup. I’d still keep Steen with those two because I think it will limit Steen’s contolling the play and force him into being a support player.

Bouwmeester continues to frustrate in the offensive zone. No surprise there.

I’d rather see Dunn in the lineup over Bouwmeester. That won’t happen.

A much needed 2 points.

1 play really irked me. Late in 2nd period the right point player passed the puck over to the left point. Boumeester watched the puck sliding into a good shooting lane and instead of stepping into the shot, he stops the puck after its moves out of the lane then takes a shot into a heard of players. Boumeester has zero offensive instincts now. Dunn/Eddy would have stepped into that shot and let it go before the Canadiens adjusted.

Ive got hope for Boumeester with the new system but he's not giving me and glimpses of hope yet.

I am one of Bouwmeester's staunchest supporters, (and defenders :)), but I do admit he's taking a long time to regain his form. JBo stated in an interview that he has adjusted his game to being that of a shut down type of defender, and with this in mind, I think the coaching staff need to re-evaluate his usage. I see him as a 2nd, or even 3rd pairing defensive D, with extra playing time as a PK specialist. He could move up to the top pairing when needed, like when we are ahead by a goal late in the game. I still think he has a lot to offer, ( I think value shutdown D's more than a lot of posters), as he still has excellent skating and the minimal puck skills not to be a liability.

How much of a shutdown guy is he though? I wont get too down on him right now since I havnt really gotten to focus on him since he's returned. With Dman, you always remember when they get burned but dont notice the good plays. Also Petro stopped being Norris Petro when Bou came back.

I thought he was one of our best and most effective players in both the Minnesota and Nashville series last year. I hope he can regain that form. We will see. I do agree that right now he needs to be separated from Pietrangelo.

Lots of good points here and I agree with most of them but here is my take.

Keep Jaskin on the 4th line. He is generating chances there and I think he has played his best hockey there all year. I think its time we realize what he is and stop trying to plug him in a top 6 role. Once everyone does that, we can jump out of his throat and let him play to his strengths

Bouwmeester has frustrated me for a couple years now in the O-zone. Someone needs to show him what a shot on goal looks like so he understands. I see him improving from the beginning of his return in his own zone and don't find him to be a liability at all. I wouldn't play him necessarily "over" Dunn as I think Dunn is a special player and deserves to get constant play. I am glad he sat tonight as a younger player needs to see the press box every so often in my opinion, if nothing else to keep him humble.

Steen has frustrated me far more than Bouwmeester this year. He needs to stop playing the point on the powerplays and his 2 way play doesn't seem to be as good this year as previous years. I hope he gets his solid play back. It looks like he is still uneasy and making lots of mental goofs.

Spot on with Tarasenko. Its hard but he needs to keep doing what he is doing and he will get one. After that he will start piling them on. He is a bit of a streaky goal scorer and this is the first time I have seen him this visually frustrated

OMG!!!!! Someone else gets it. Does this mean I can put my drum down and stop having to defend the $1M a year player who plays a great bottom 6 possession game for not being a 20 goal scorer. Please, let that be so.

To beat a dead horse... the PP is worse than terrible. New PP strategy: 1) Don't stand in your own zone and let the clock tick. 2) Don't stand around...ever 3) Don't go backwards towards your own zone with the puck, 4) Don't pass the puck to the opposing team, 5) Don't pass the puck to the open ice "nobody"

Good grief - they need to end whatever they consider is their PP and just play plain hockey during the man advantage and smash mouth the front of the net. This PP is a laughing stock.

what funny is they keep doing the same thing on the PP, putting the same people out there in the same spots and expecting different results.

first thing id do is either put bergie infront of the net or id put edmundson out there and tell him to park himself right infront of the net. that the number one problem with the power play IMO, zero traffic.

agreed. I'd also note that we do a poor job of challenging people in front of our net on the pk and, well, just in general.

Change everything...bench the next guy that uses the stupid pass back to dzone or stand behind the net for more than three seconds... Blackhawks PP tonight against WSH looked similar...circle while the clock ticks, pass back to dzone...rush forward and dump puck in to turnover...rinse...repeat...zero shots on goal.

Are the analytics showing that it is statistically advantageous to rest on the PP? That sure seems like what they are doing.
