Also what is being buried in the lede is that Orpik couldn't clear Thomas Vanek from the crease and that resulted in a goal. So we're now at a place where Orpik's strength isn't even his strength anymore.
You have to give Vanek some credit. Orpik was all over him and he fought him off. What is being buried on that play was that there ius no way that pass should have gotten to Vanek. If Grubauer played that properly the should have been easily blocked with the paddle of his stick. That pass went right through the crease.

Lmao. I said the exact same thing about Vrana and people jumped allover me and came to his defence. He made a nice play on the DSP goal but other than that he was a liability. I commented about the terrible give away in front if our net on the same shift that ended up in a goal for DSP. I also stated that he was involved in both even strength goals against us.
There is a reason his ice time gets cut and he is a healthy scratch at times. But most here just dont see it.

There are people who have the same perception as you, just like there are those who differ.

Shall we go through the entire game tape and look for mistakes by your favorite player, Nick Backstrom? Or will we find he played a flawless game that required no help from anyone else?

It's a weak argument to trash a winger because he doesn't make a defensive play IN THE OFFENSIVE ZONE. This person is suggesting Vrana was responsible for the OT goal because he didn't strip a puck on the other side of the ice? Is this tweeter you?

So did Wilson, Orpik, Orlov, Burakovsky, and Ovechkin. Where are their scratches?
Sorry again but Vrana was by far our worst forward on the ice. He made way too many mistakes. It is a recurring problem. It doesn't just happen the odd time. It happens in most games.
And to think we could have drafted Pasternak instead of Vrana that year. Oh well we weren't the only team that dropped the ball

This is the definition of blind favoritism. Orpik gets schooled in a one on one battle in his supposed strength, it leads to a direct goal and all you can do is give credit to Vanek and blame Grubauer for not blocking a point blank shot with two guys in his crease.

Vrana was easily our top 3 most dangerous players AINEC. Kuzy, Bura, Vrana

agreed. but question, lets say alex chiasson had the exact same game vrana did. does your opinion change?
My opinion changes substantially. It's always been about net gain versus net loss. At the end of the day Vrana's defensive mistakes coupled with his offensive skills and play still leave us at a net positive.

If Chiasson plays that fast and passes that well I argue to keep him in.

My opinions are fluid. I think Orpik in for Djoos is the right call, I didn't always think that but now I think our defense is more well rounded. I thought DSP on the third line was bad, but now I see his chemistry with Eller and I like it. I'm willing to admit when guys out play my perceptions.

What young player wants to play for a coach if every time you do something good it’s completely ignored by a negative (a negative that is based on the coaches system a lot of time)?

How can you redeem yourself and learn by sitting in the stands?

It just doesn’t make sense because so many other players made mistakes too but Vrana is the odd man out

It’s such BS

And Orlov, who made a bad decision on the OT GWG. Which is why you can't just look at these mistakes in a vacuum.

pretty much. i just feel like its the name of the player people care more about then the actions

during the regular season chiasson had games where he was better then vrana, yet this board called for chiasson to be scratched instead

I know everyone makes mistakes. And I'm not defending anyone for their mistakes. Vrana is making too many mistakes. I didn't say the ot goal was his fault but he did have a chance to make a play along the boards. He didn't play it well and is where the rush started.
BTW this tweeter is not me. Ive never tweeted in my life. I don't have can account and probably never will.

Blaming Vrana for that last goal is asinine. We had 2 guys back, it wasn’t a breakaway, it was a great individual play by Panarin. Cole was falling when he made the pass.

So Trotz is going to neuter our speed to make a point. To make sure that we have a chance to win the coin flip. You know, since he preaches such a dynamic, creative passing attack, we don’t need speed driven goals of the variety he assisted on.

It isnt bs. Vrana can't be trusted to make the right decision. Yes everyone makes mistakes. Vrana makes more mistakes than any other forward on the team in less time on the ice.
He is a skilled player. He just has to raise his hockey IQ. That will come with time. I'm sure he will be a good NHL player in the near future.

i dont understand the "trotz doesnt want youth" etc talk, he literally played vrana everyday and even when he didnt score for 25 games or so he was always back in the lineup

(the month totals are mis aligned)

hold up, just because you and i have a different opinions then some here doesnt mean they dont get it. for all we know you and I are wrong

theres more then just paper stats, each person here values something different about his game and thats cool

Im going to guess.....at least one, without bothering to look over all of NHL history. But hey Poile has only GM’d 2 organizations.

Now run along and prove me wrong. ;)

Scotty Bowman (Duh)
Dick Irvin (Early Habs teams had some decent forwards)
Al Arbour (Mike Bossy)
Joel Quenneville (Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews)
Ken Hitchcock (Vladimir Tarasenko)
Paul Maurice (Mark Scheifele, Laine another potential one)
Pat Quinn (Pavel Bure, Luc Robitaille)
Mike Keenan (Jeremy Roenick)
Jack Adams (Duh, multiple HOF forwards)
Art Ross (Multiple HOF forwards)

I got that just by checking quickly.

Its not about my opinion. Its about the opinion of the coaches. Like I said there is a reason his ice time is limited and reason he is a healthy scratch. That's why I say you guys don't get it. Whether you like Trotz or not if anyone here thinks they know more about the situation than he does, you are mistaken.
We all try to be arm chair coaches but at the end of the day they know more than we do.
