Blood relationship question

I recently found a new use for wolfram alpha, it calculates your relationship with a relative, whether they're second of first cousin, first cousin once removed, etc.

But I noticed something strange, according to Wolfram Alpha, I'm only 25% blood relation to my brother

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=my+brother

And only 6.25% relation to my 1st cousin

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=my+first+cousin

These seem to be off be about 50% (50% and 12.5%)

Does anybody know the answer to this or is Wolfram Alpha just wrong?

they are misusing the term "blood relation" in a way that makes no sense at all.

the only thing I can figure out that gives them that 25% number is there is a 1/4 chance that you have the exact same two alleles as your brother for any one gene.

So it just gets cut in half every time? I'm not a blood expert so I have no idea. My 'first cousin once removed' is only 3.125%?

Im pretty sure its just wrong.

I thought so at first as well but essentially what this is calculating is the coefficient of relationship, according to a quick Google search. This coefficient is to determine the odds of inbreeding. Obviously, there's a variation as well based on strength of relationship.

Except if you read it says that siblings of the same parents have a 50% coefficient of relationship, not 25% as in the OP
