That's one of the reasons why I thik the league has to stick to its guns. You would not have an honest marketplace with a "testing period" contract. Both sides would be doing their darnedest to prove their theories right.

I had thought of this too. They should take this rollback for this season only, continue to negotiate and play a half season of hockey. Losing a season hurts everyone.

I would not make it last for two seasons because it takes away the sense of urgency. If they cant come up with a difinitive agreement by next October then Bettman and Goodenow should step down because obviously they cannot get it done.
