Time to pull the wool away from our eyes children....Bill Peters IS John Fox.

Think about it....John Fox is a defensive coach that can make scrubs look respectable. Who else does that sound like?

*John Fox is ultra conservative. He will rush on 3rd and 9.
*John Fox can't manage talent. He had Peyton Manning playing like Jake Delhomme. Now....he can make Delhomme look like he isn't a terd by making him hand the ball off 35 times a game...but once you give Fox a hall of fame talent he makes them play to their weakness.
*The more talent John Fox gets the worse his teams look. John Fox wants people to play a very simple system and not deviate. Talented players rarely fit into his system so when you upgrade from 3rd stringers you actually get WORSE!!!
*RF has been plugging holes incrementally increasing our talent and we haven't gotten any better! We upgrade the 3rd pair, the goalie, some depth wingers....hell our top 9 and D and G are much better than we were and we have a great 4th line. Yet we've gotten worse on ice??

We're in John Fox land...bubble team that is boring to watch with ultra conservative play. The coach hasn't tried to utilize his speed or upgrades in talent and hasn't changed his system despite changing personnel.

*This thread should have very good gif potential and I expect you all to capitalize on it.

John Fox got the Panthers to the playoffs a few times, though...

And in a league where roughly a third of the teams make it, not more than half.

John Fox not changing his conservative style to suit Peyton Manning (nevermind the 1st place record setting offense) is like Bill Peters not changing his conservative style because we added a 38 or whatever year old Justin Williams and Marcus Kruger?

shhh the analogy falls apart when you think about it

And ignore games like Edmonton and Toronto.

This dramatically overstates how "talented" the Hurricanes are these days.

Look at a playoff roster. Then look at our roster. Look back and forth a few times. In almost all cases, there's a noticeable difference in the skill level, particularly at forward.

There's these things that some of these other teams teams in the league have that we have only one of... eventual shot at 2 if Aho can start burying shots again. It's called first line talent, and Skinner is the only one we have. We have some really good middle 6 players to go with him now, but that's the extent of what this roster is up front. I mean... it can work for you with elite defense (which we have) but even the other teams built similarly that have had some success all have more then 1 top line forward. Ducks have Getzlaf and Perry, Preds have RyJo and Forsberg, Flames have Gaudreau and Monahan, we have Skinner and... nothing.
