The Thrashers Management watched in dismay as the team dropped their 10 loss in a row. Although not much was expected of this years team, 10 in a row is a heart breaking streak that has questioned GM Ryan Archer's patience. In response to Eric Lindros impending retirement the managment feels he is just showing up for his pay check and he is showing little leadership or motivation on the ice. As a result the team has decided to waive his salary in hopes of saving at least some money this year to help with future seasons. The club hoped to be competitive this year but this is obviously not going to happen. Rumour has it that Jason Allison could be had fairly cheap and may be the next on the move.

The Message was heard loud and clear as the Thrashers snap their ten game losing streak the day after waiving center Eric Lindros. The team has not stopped making adjustments and there is talk of new players joining the organization. With Lindros' and Allisons salary both relieved after this season there will be 9 million more cap space in which to make offers on next years free agents. This year rookie GM Ryan Archer underestimated the amounts GM's were willing to pay players, and in most cases felt many players went way over paid. His tight wallet was not able to afford the expensive amounts greedy players were asking. He managed only to sign one player during free agency, Brandon Reid, who subsequently negated on his deal and fled to Europe. After free agency Archer was able to make land tough guy David Koci who regulates the ice giving Grant Marshall more room to put points up on the board. The Thrashers need a lot of work but GM Ryan Archer is confident that the team is starting to make the changes that are needed to turn this team around.
