to be honest, outside babchuk and barker, chicago's defense is only slightly above average, IMO. i'm not that impressed with seabrooke or barinka, wisniewski is an underrated prospect, though. i just don't think, on the whole, they've got the high end of the other three teams. they lack a suter, phaneuf or whitney. barker is close, but i think those three are on the next level.
Well that's your opinion which I personally don't agree with.
I could say "outside of Hamhuis and Suter, Nashville's defense is only above average" but I won't because Hamhuis and Suter are integral parts of Nashville's defence.
We are not debating strictly the depth or quality of depth in a defensive core. We are talking about the defensive core as a whole.
While you are not overtly impressed with Seabrooke or Barinka, the fact remains that they are still very good prospects. In fact, Seabrooke projects to be the best defenseman on either team not named Babchuk, Hamhius, Suter or Barker.
Barker definitely belongs (well as definite as a prospect can be) in the class of a Suter, Phaneuf or Whitney.
I'd rank them as follows;
1.) Suter
2.) Barker
3.) Phaneuf
4.) Whitney

same with nashville and to a lesser extent pittsburgh.
Who exactly on Nashville has the amount of experience akin to a Regehr or a Ference? Hamhuis played 80 games, everyone else has little to no NHL experience (Suter, Weber, Klein, Sulzer, etc)
