Team Sweden + Canada & Russia today (barring injuries)

An Interesting idea

Barring some of the people injured and out of form - it would look something like this:

Forsberg-Sundin-Bäckström (new meets old)
Zetterberg-Nylander-Modin/M Nilsson/M Samuelsson (difficult to choose last winger)
D Sedin- H Sedin-Näslund (keep intact from club)
Axelsson-PÃ¥hlsson-Alfredsson (checking line with some offensive punch)

Extra F - Holmström /Huselius/Modin/M Nilsson/M Samuelsson/ all secondary options

Lidstrom-Norström
Kronwall-Tallinder
Johnsson- K Jönsson

Extra D. Ohlund /or Hävelid/

Lundqvist
Holmqvist
Hedberg/Tellquist

Coach :yo: Me

The Russians do seem to have a better team at the moment tho (if they could keep their heads straight)

What about -

Goalies:
Evgeni Nabokov - San Jose Sharks
Ilya Bryzgalov - Anaheim Mighty Ducks
Nikolai Khabibulin - Chicago Blackhawks

Defensemen:
Alexi Zhitnek - NY Islanders
Anton Volchenkov - Ottawa Senators
Andrei Markov - Montreal Canadiens
Daniil Markov - Detroit Red Wings
Sergei Zubov - Dallas Stars
Sergei Gonchar - Pittsburgh Penguins
Vitali Vishnevski - Anaheim Mighty Ducks

Centers:
Pavel Datsyuk - Detroit Red Wings
Alexei Yashin - NY Islanders
Evgeni Malkin - Pittsburgh Penguins
Viktor Kozlov - New York Islanders

Wingers:
Ilya Kovalchuk - Atlanta Trashers
Vyacheslav Kozlov - Atlanta Trashers
Alex Kovalev - Montreal Canadiens
Alexander Semin - Washington Capitals
Alexander Ovechkin - Washington Capitals
Alexander Frolov - Los Angeles Kings
Maxim Afinogenov - Buffalo Sabres
Sergei Fedorov - Columbus Blue Jackets
Sergei Mozyakin - Khimik (Russian League)

Extra - Sergei Samsonov - Montreal Canadians

I find them very hard (on paper) to beat at the moment

Canada would of course look something like:

Goaltenders:
Jean Sebastian Giguere - Anaheim Ducks
Martin Brodeur - New Jersey Devils
Roberto Loungo - Vancouver Canucks

Defensemen:
Chris Pronger - Anaheim Ducks
Scott Niedermayer - Anaheim Ducks
Wade Redden - Ottawa Senators
Dion Phaneuf - Calgary Flames
Robyn Regehr - Calgary Flames
Brian McCabe - Toronto Maple Leafs
Brian Campbell - Buffalo Sabres

Centers:
Sidney Crosby - Pittsburgh Penguins
Joe Thornton - San Jose Sharks
Vincent Lecavalier - Tampa Bay Lightning
Chris Drury - Buffalo Sabres

Wingers:
Jonathan Cheechoo - San José Sharks
Martin St Louis - Tampa Bay Lightning
Ryan Smyth - Edmonton Oilers
Simon Gagne - Philadelphia Flyers
Brendan Shannahan - New York Rangers
Jason Spezza - Ottawa Senators
Dany Heatley - Ottawa Senators
Jarome Iginla - Calgary Flames
Joe Sakic - Colorado Avalanche

Rick Nash - Columbus Blue Jackets ??

Not too bad

Czechs, Finns and Slovaks teams look good as well.

Well as to someone mentioned that Finns look good, i might give it a shot

What the Finns are missing right now is top end talent. The D looks pretty good and goaltending is one of the best, but second line is a big questionmark

Lehtinen - Koivu - Selänne
T.Ruutu - O. Jokinen - Peltonen
J.Jokinen - M.Koivu - A. Miettinen
S. Kapanen - Hahl - Hagman
J.Ruutu, Bergenheim

Salo - Timonen
Pitkänen - Lydman
Numminen - Nummelin
Kukkonen - Väänänen

Kiprusoff
Toskala
Norrena/Niittymäki

Lehtonen has been shaky so im not putting him in goal yet.

Best Swedish team? I disagree with both of those lineups, alot.

Forsberg - Sundin - Alfredsson
Zetterberg - Nylander - Näslund
Sedin - Sedin - Modin
Axelsson - PÃ¥hlsson - Samuelsson

Ohlund - Lidström
Tallinder - Kim Johnsson
Hävelid - Tjärnqvist

Lundqvist

Isn't Tallinder still banned from international competition by Sweden?

something about a hotel room, 3 hookers, and a donkey

If memory serves, Tallinder, Lilja and Huselius are now cleared to play for Team Sweden again.

During a tournament, the trio went out for a beer, the three of them ended up in a hotel room together with 1 woman. The woman later file ra-pe charges which only lead to them being cuestioned by the police. They were never arrested for anything but still got a lengthy suspension from the swedish hockey federation.

Sorry - Chris Drury is definitely Canadian+ :dunno:

I guess Rob Brind' amour would get the slot for Canada (as he is having stellar season and is two way player) instead - unless you can tell Drury that Canadian citizenship is better than American *(heh heh - funny funny) and he changes passports revealing his "real father" was a lumberjacking mounty in NWT or something...

Regarding defensemen - I kinda agree that I was shortsighted (meaning that Kenny Jönsson would be healthy during this Fantasy 2007 Olympics in Kabul?) about the big Canuck

Öhlund can start

Together With Tallinder

Kim Jonsson & Kenny Jonsson

Niklas Kronwall would be a very eager fill-in to take up any slot on defense. He is the future guy on the blue line for years to come btw

Bäckman was good 2006 - but who would he replace on D ?

Sorry about dreamers still putting J Jönsson on the team. He would not be on mine ever again. It´s gotta be in his hair. But his brother is too good to deny a spot.

Tallinder is again good to go now in Tre Kronor btw. His little chain gang activities with the donkey and the midget in The National team jersey´s after The Drugstore ("Labbet") have been forgiven and his suspension is over (or at least is in the official version). One funny part is that all 3 of the guys doing the Rocco imitation still are apparently with their girls at the time (aren´t they forgiving golddiggers a la Hillary??) of this incident. Do not know what I REALLY meant by saying this - but you gotta admit that it is interesting curiosa...

And this is Mats Sundins last NHL season btw. Believe me when I say this - I have real good & reliable inside info on this. Forsberg is not giving up yet - tho. But may if he does not find skates. He is a very stubborn person.
