Liking all of your suggestions here.

And yes, the most wonderful thing I got out of this season (and now PO time has started) is the sheer number of 27 (years) or younger German players who are impact players for their respective team.

And that in year where a highly unusual amount of U21 players got a few shifts here and there.

The prelimenary squad for the WC preparation got announced today:

Auftakt mit 27 Akteuren

Goal: Tobias Ancicka (Berlin), Florian Bugl (Straubing), Maximilian Franzreb (Bremerhaven)

Defense: Tobias Fohrler (Ambri-Piotta/SUI), Julius Karrer, Oliver Mebus, Marcus Weber (Nürnberg), Eric Mik, Jonas Müller, Marco Nowak (Berlin), Moritz Wirth (Bremerhaven), Mario Zimmermann (Straubing)

Forwards: Dominik Bokk (Frankfurt), Tobias Eder, Alexander Ehl, Daniel Fischbuch (alle Düsseldorf), Tim Fleischer, Danjo Leonhardt, Dennis Lobach, Daniel Schmölz (Nürnberg), Maximilian Kammerer (Köln), Alexander Karachun (Schwenningen), Marcel Noebels, Manuel Wiederer (Berlin), Joshua Samanski, Parker Tuomie (Straubing), Samuel Soramies (Augsburg)

Of course, players still active are missing and some players got a prolonged rest period. (eg. M.Müller and Dominik Kahun)

I like this squad alot already, especially because most players are still U25. The only player that is missing for me is Marcel Brandt. I don't know if he is injured or getting more rest aswell.

Indeed, it's a fun list of players and a nice way to kick off the WC camp.

Naturally, players from the 4 DEL teams in action as well as those playing abroad will become part of things as the tournament approaches, as is the case every year.

Something I would be surprised to see is that a player who is currently out of action and not invited to this preparation squad ends up coming in later.

Meaning, I think it's intentional that Moritz Müller and Marcel Brandt are not a part of this.

No chance for veterans such as Patrick Reimer and Philip Gogulla? Both of them had great seasons.

Both retired from the national team a while ago, and Reimer retired from hockey completely at the end of this season.
So, they are no real options anyway.

I am a bit sick at the moment and can't sleep so, inspired by this thread, I decided to try and create a roster only from players born in the 21st century (2000 and beyond). I went with 3G 9D and 14F.

Lukas Reichel (2002) - Tim Stützle (2002) - JJ Peterka (2002)
Julian Lutz (2004) - Justin Schütz (2000) - Dominik Bokk (2000)
Alexander Blank (2002) - Josef Eham (2002) - Filip Varejcka (2001)
Danjo Leonhardt (2002) - Tim Fleischer (2000)- Joshua Samanski (2002)
Taro Jentzsch (2000) - Luis Schinko (2000)

Luca Münzenberger (2002) - Moritz Seider (2001)
Maksymilian Szuber (2002) - Leon Hüttl (2000)
Mario Zimmermann (2001) - Tommy Pasanen (2001)
Eric Mik (2000) - Daniel Wirt (2000)
Julius Karrer (2000)

Tobias Ancicka (2001)
Arno Tiefensee (2002)
Nikita Quapp (2003)

Other players I considered:
Goalies: Hendrik Hane (2000), Florian Bugl (2002), Simon Wolf (2004)

Defensemen: Philipp Mass (2000), Jan-Luca Sennhenn (2000), Arkadiusz Dziambor (2002), Korbinian Geibel (2002), Maximilian Glötzl (2002), Fabrizio Pilu (2002). Adrian Klein (2003), Rayan Bettahar (2004)

Forwards: Timo Bakos (2000), Dennis Lobach (2000), John Broda (2001), Julian Chrobot (2001), Enrico Henriquez-Morales (2001), Nino Kinder (2001), Philipp Krauß (2001), Jakub Borzecki (2002), Florian Elias (2002), Daniel Neumann (2002), Maciej Rutkowski (2002), Justin Volek (2002), Haakon Hänelt (2003), Nikolaus Heigl (2003), Thomas Heigl (2003), Yannick Proske (2003), Bennet Roßmy (2003), Robin van Calster (2003), Luca Hauf (2004), Roman Kechter (2004), Philipp Krening (2004), Veit Oswald (2004)

Looking at this, the talent from the early 2000s should provide a solid talent pool for the WHC every year and of course there is some high end NHL talent as well.

Now I'll try to get some sleep and hopefully feel better tomorrow.

Which means, this is the A-Team (but not best Line-Up) IMO:

F: (21 players - in no order)

Draisaitl, Stützle, Peterka, Sturm, Reichel, Kahun, Michaelis, Rieder, Noebbels, Pföderl, Tiffels, Ehliz, Hager, Kammerer, Schütz, Plachta, Künhackl, Fischbuch, Stachowiak, Schmölz, Bokk

D: (7 players)
Seider, Szuber, J.Müller, Wissmann, Holzer, Gawanke, Hüttl

G: (4 players)
Grubauer, Bugl, Strahlmeier, Niederberger, Ancicka

A fine overview you've got here @Draiseistu99.

If anything, I'd add J. Müller and Ugbekile to the list of D, perhaps even ahead of Hölzer and Hüttl.

And perhaps it's just a bias after the DEL pre-playoffs, but I'm not looking at Ancicka as "there" yet.

Definitely see Franzreb and Hungerecker ahead of him at this point, likely Tiefensee as well.
