What about Ricky Bourque?

Joe Thornton is from Lynhurst actually/ Scott Thornton (cousin) is from London.

What do the columns all mean? I assume 89 players from Montreal have won the cup since 1989, but what does the "cups" column indicate?

Maybe it means 89 players from Montreal have played in the NHL and 16 have won a cup?

Btw Paul Kariya is from North Van as far as I remember. They are separate cities.

Wasn't Toe Blake born in Sudbury? That's considered his hometown at least.

I feel dumb but I can't think of any players born in Toronto except for the ones listed under Stanley Cups. It seems there should be a lot more and probably some better than those lsited. There used to be a website where you could search for all NHL players under lots of categories including place of birth. Does anybody know anything about that? Is it still around?

I'm guessing he was the one and only product of Floral, Saskatchewan. I think all that is even left of Floral today is a grain elevator. I don't believe anyone even lives in Floral.

As for the best product from Saskatoon, good question. The best name I can come up with is Brent Ashton. Many great players have played here in Saskatoon, but not many were born here.

I was thinking about how Saskatoon hasn't really produced a lot of NHL players. I mean neither has Regina really, but it seems like in comparison to Saskatoon they do.

Mike Sillinger
Scott Hartnell
Jamie Heward
James Black
Dave Karpa
Josh Harding

I guess none of our cities really produce many NHL players, more of the rural areas.

The area around Toronto has always seemed to produce more players than the city itself. Not sure why.

My hometowns:

Renfrew: Best player - Ted Lindsay
Last player - Alan Letang

Notables: Lorne Anderson was the Rangers goalie who let in 3 goals in 21 seconds against Bill Mosienko. He never played another NHL game.

Jim Peplinski was born in Haley Station, a community of about 100 people on the outskirts of Renfrew.

shawville: Best player: Bill Cowley (From Bristol)
Lasy player: Terry Murray

Notables: Frank Finnigan was the last surviving member of the original Senators and instrumental in getting the team back in Ottawa.

Bryan Murray never played in the NHL, but has been a GM/coach for the past 25 years. He was a pretty good player, but 'retired' at 17 to become the coach of Shawville's senior team. He knew from a young age that coaching was in his blood.

Sarnia would be likely be Pat Stapleton, with Dino Ciccarelli or Pat Verbeek a close second.

Wow. That`s where my dad`s side of the family came from and I`ve never heard that before. It`s hard to believe that a place that small produced a NHLer.

Random Ottawa Valley ones:

Perth- Billy Smith
Winchester- Larry Robinson
Pembroke- Frank Nighbour or Harry Cameron
Smith Falls- Don McKenney

I think this came up in a previous thread. The Offical NHL Guide shows his birthplace as Churchill, Manitoba.

That's correct. He was born in Churchill, but grew up in Rankin Inlet.

Sakic is not from Vancouver, he is from Burnaby. There is a difference.

Burnaby is part of the GVRD, so some people tend to lump Vancouver and its surrounding areas into just "Vancouver."

And Scott Hannan is from Richmond, which is also part of the GVRD but a few minutes south of the actual city of Vancouver. I think Burnaby is North.
