New Beach House album leaked today. Haven’t listened but heard great things.

Sooo tempted to listen to it but I'm gonna hold off till the official release.

Was never a huge fan of Janelle Monae but her new album "Dirty Computer" is incredible. Beautifully crafted from start to finish.

I'm always curious with people who like the same bands as me, how they rank each song on the album.. this would be my ranking:

Feathers
Eat the Elephant
Disillusioned
TalkTalk
So Long and Thanks for all the Fish
By and Down the River
Get the Lead Out
The Doomed
Delicious
The Contrarian
DLB
Hourglass
I like a number of the songs and for different reasons. Some it's the mood or the song, others it's the content, the lyrics or what the song it trying to convey and others it's the sentiment. As an example I really like So Long and Thanks for all the Fish in part because I love the Douglas Adams series and reference and also because the song pays tribute to a number of famous people that died in the last year or so like Carrie Fisher.

Ok guys, i'm going to the record store. Been on my own tour lately and am so behind.

Give me 3 records to buy.

For reference: My two favorite albums of this year are MGMT and Rhye and my 3 favorite albums last year were Bleachers, War On Drugs and Slowdive.

So far this year my 3 favorites have been from women. Sweet Unknown from Erika Wennerstrom is the one I like the most.

The 2 others are May Your Kindness Remain from Courtney Marie Andrews and Years from Sarah Shook & The Disarmers. Both of these are in the americana/alt-country genre.

If you’re a fan of electronic music , the new DJ KOZE album “knock knock” is excellent .

The new beach house album is great, “last ride” might be my new favourite closer track of theirs and that’s saying something against teen dreams “take care” and blooms “irene” .

Was just about to bump this. Big day for indie music today. 7 is fantastic, but that should come as no surprise. I think this'll slot as my 4th favorite Beach House record, behind Teen Dream, Bloom, and Depression Cherry.

Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino...what the **** is this? First impression is that it's awful, but this is one I'll need more time with and maybe it'll grow a little bit.

List so far based on what I've listened to:
1. Beach House: 7
2. La Luz: Floating Features

3. Arctic Monkeys: Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino (this will likely only be pushed further down)

Eagerly awaiting:
Courtney Barnett: Tell Me How You Really Feel
Melody's Echo Chamber: Bon Voyage
Purity Ring (TBA)
My Bloody Valentine (TBA)
Vampire Weekend (TBA)
Spiritualized (TBA)

Of Interest:
Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks: Middle America
Soccer Mommy: Clean
No Joy/Sonic Boom EP

From what I've heard of it, Courtney Barnett's new album is fantastic. The opening track is so good; once I heard that opening guitar line, I wanted her to take it into a Spirit Club-esque slow jam, and that's exactly what she did.

Been hearing a lot of good things. I’ll give it a listen today.

For those who haven't (or perhaps even have) picked up the Courtney Barnett album and who are into vinyl, the "indie record store release" was actually cheaper than the standard black vinyl at my local record store. They also had plenty in stock. I was told you also get a tote bag with it.

Love is Dead by Chvrches - Can confirm that at least 2 of the singles are the worst songs on the album and maybe even 3 or all 4. None of them bad, they are all fine, but they were just fine. Those were clearly suited for FM radio play, imo. A few of these other cuts I've been able to listen to a few times in a row. If you are already a fan of them as I am, then you should be good, acceptable at the very least. If you're not, I've got nothing to sell to sell you on.

P.S. Neko Case's album cover is god damned nightmare fuel. I'm going to get the album and immediately delete the artwork from my library. It's making me physically ill just typing about it. Lead single is tremendous though.

Are there any good pure alternative type albums that have come out? Not metal or anything, just alternative. Arctic Monkeys album was decent but it was closer to lounge music combined with chamber pop.

Vennart (from Oceansize) released a good single and his last album was decent. I think another British band Black Foxxes have good reviews but I haven't listened to it yet. And I think Blood Red Shoes are releasing one too but they're probably past their peak.

I really liked the new Chvrches album, better than their previous release but obviously not as good as 'Bones....'
