Take 'em with a grain of salt. Consider the draft picks as being chosen based on how they might be ranked by the end of their careers.

1990 - Doug Weight, 34th
1991 – Ziggy Palffy, 26th
1992 – Mike Peca, 40th
1993 - Brian McCabe, 40th
1994 – Patrick Elias, 51st
1995 - Georges Laraque, 31st
1996 - Colin White, 49th
1997 – Kristian Huselius, 47th
1998 – Mike Fisher, 44th
1999 – Jordan Leopold, 44th
2000 – Jarret Stoll, 46th
2001 – Timofei Shishkanov, 33rd
2002 – Jiri Hudler, 58th
2003 – Patrice Bergeron, 45th

In 2001 i'd take Roy, Tyutin, or Grigerenko ahead of Shishkanov at this point in time.

I agree on Roy but Shis is as good as the 2 others imo .

I just (very quickly) did the same for third rounders. I may have skipped a more deserving player as I only glanced at each crop a few seconds.

1990 - Slava Kozlov, 45th by Wings
1991 - Chris Osgood, 54th by Wings
1992 - Kirk Maltby, 65th by Oilers
1993 - Vaclav Prospal, 71th by Flyers
1994 - If you had asked a few years ago, Fredrik Modin
If you had asked a year ago, Chris Drury definitly
There is the possibility Souray may eventually get the nomination
so right now I will go with Drury, 72nd overall by Nordiques
1995 - Brad Isbister, 67th by Jets
(Interestingly, Vladimir Tsyplakov still has more points in less games)
1996 - All hail the king Zdeno Chara, 56th by Islanders
1997 - Maxim Afinogenov, 69th by Buffalo
(Ville Nieminen may be building a case for himself down the road)
1998 - Brad Richards, 64th by Tampa Bay. Amazing.
1999 - Mike Comrie, 91st by Oilers
(Interestingly, Branko Radivojevic goes two spots later at 93rd)
2000 - Very much up for grabs. I will stop there because the rest are definitly too early to tell.

When was Alfy taken? I've always thought that was the biggest steal of the past 10 years. I think he was 133rd..which would make that the 6th or 7th round.

Selected by Ottawa Senators round 6 #133 overall 1994 NHL Entry Draft

Nice guess.

5th Round Picks:
2001: Kyle Wellwood, Cody McCormick were also taken
2002: No one good really (Berzins for the Wild could end up being like Pirjeta)
2003: Arsi Piispanen, Tim Cook, Thomas Morrow, Evgeny Isakov, Gino Guyer were also taken

7th Round Picks:
2001: Derek Boogaard, Jason King, Cristobal Huet, Jan Platil,
2002: Josh Morrow, Marc Andre Roy
2003: Andy Choido, Georgi Misharin, Mike Brodeur, Adam Courchaine, Jeremy Williams

8th Round Picks:
2001: Dmitry Bykov, Petr Cajanek, Martin Gerber,
2002: Maxime Talbot, Tom Koivisto, Christoph Brandner (at least he's played!)
2003: Tobias Enstrom, Darryl Yacboski

9th Round Picks:
2001: Ivan Majesky, Ales Pisa,
2002: Mika Hannula, uh...
2003: Jean-Michal Bolduc (guy needs to fill out!)

I don't know much about the other guys in the later round but

Hannula played well in the AHL, Boogaard has too, and Bolduc was suppose to be a top pick (in the top 5 rounds) but slipped because he had problems with his coaches and an attitude, plus he was a bit raw.
