Is light years better than anything we put on PP 2 last year.

Or put Poms on point and Kane on wing. Still improved.

Please no

But, yeah, this is still way better than Kane-Gio-Moulson being our go-to PP2.

I'm not a big fan of the idea of Eichel with any of our low IQ or slow wingers until he proves himself at ES, but that's also gonna be super dependent on what type of scheme we're using.

If Housley lets both Pouliot/Kane and Eichel leak out of the play to create odd man-situations alongside a defensive specialist, that could be really fun.

Curious who would fit that role.

From what i've read, complacency may be a thing with him. One year deals seem perfect for this guy.

1.15 mil for his production (aside from last year) is a deal you just can't get in UFA, especially on a 1 year deal, so it seems kind of fishy.
He's 30 now so hopefully if there is something behind it, he's matured.

Pouliot's skating? Above average, average, below average?

Above average
Very good skater

I keep reading in this thread that he's not a good skater or that he has low hockey IQ... neither are true

The knock on Pouliot... is that he's lazy, takes shifts and games off... and those knocks are true. That's why he gets bought out, traded, and ultimately lands a low end 1 year deal...

He was just bought out by Edmonton. That type of thing usually doesn't help a guy's market value. Besides, he's still getting paid from that deal.

Oh, ok. I think that's what what's his face, the Dman from the Sabres who was bought out, did. Signed a one year deal for peanuts with Pittsburgh right after. I guess it's depth if nothing else, but it's weird regardless to look at his hockeydb page and see a different team almost every year.

Also prone to some bad offensive zone penalties. But a fast LW'er who has the talent to finish on a 1 year, no risk deal is pretty good.

Depends on the system.

Reinhart could be that player if he's camping the slot and making the outlet, but if the D are as active as I think they will be, we'd want someone like Girgensons crashing all the way down below the goal line and hitting a defenseman at the circle.

His skating has severely declined.

Don't know if it was injuries or what, but last year when I would watch McDavid, Pouliot seemed a step slow for that team.

Good signing for us. Guy can still be productive, and replaces some of the LW depth we've lost.

His speed was wasted with McDavid because of his deficient IQ. 97 is so ****ing fast that you'd rather just throw him with dudes who are good at puck support and consistently get to spots.

Like, they thought McDavid made Taylor Hall's skillset redundant.

I've always thought this guy was underrated. A dumb player for sure, but big, fast, and a pain to play against. And more skill than most think. Great signing.

Well, if you're comparing Pouliot to guys like McDavid or Drasaitl or Eberle or even RNH, of course he's going to look slow.

That's the type of game we want to play. So yes, I would compare his skating to the rest of the team.

We could still add a piece up front, I suppose, but thinking about trying to even out PP 1 and 2, mostly because I'm not sure if PP1 can sustain the ridiculous scoring they put up last year. Also, who knows what we implement compared to what Woods had in place, but:

PP1:
Pouliot-RoR-K.O.
Eichel-Risto

PP2:
Moulson-Sam-Pommer
Antipin-X

Let Sam run unit 2, ideally there's not a big drop off swapping him and Pouliot since you still have the other 4/5ths of the first unit intact.

You normally would run 2PP with 2D. We got Bogo, Beaulieu and McCabe that can all play on the PP2 alongside Antipin.

Why wouldn't they? So many people say it wasn't the coach and anyone could do good with Eichel and he's still here. For the sake of those people they better hope we are just as good or I will be making sure some people eat crow.
