Phile Varone leads the AHL in scoring.. Why'd we let him go? Not asking because he might be a good injury replacement player on Sens, but to help the Belleville team be more competetive
Another ex Sen that was a fave to some putting up points is Buddy Robinson. He's 20th in AHL scoring with 22 goals and 43 points in 54 games.

yeah i liked both guys, as well as akeson. but the feeling to be back might not have been reciprocated by these guys. Maybe they thought they could get a better shot somewhere else.

What do you think people are thinking now about BM/PD moving up to get Gagne in his draft yr? Isn't it funny how things can change over time & sometimes on here from game to game.

Still hard to say on Gagne... I think the Sens should call him up and give him a look as a measuring stick for them and for him.
1 pick ahead of Gagne was Sebastion Aho .. Canes 50 pts so far this year... would have been really smart to move up 1 more spot to take him.

Players selected after Gagne that would have been nice to get are;
Carlo on the Bruins
Vince Dunn on the Blues
Rasmus Andersson 33 pts rhd Stockton AHL
Roope Hintz
Forsbacka-Karlsson
maybe Jordon Greenway from BU

I can't really be too upset about choosing Gagne though if he doesn't become a regular NHLer because the biggest regret of the draft has to go to Boston. Imagine how scary they would be now (well, they already are) if they had Barzal, Boeser, and Chabot.

"Sens Of Anarchy":

Phil Varone is expensive $450K at the AHL level on a 2 yr 2 way deal.....

Picking those 3 would have been crazy... They messed up there for sure but , prospect wise they are doing fine... and hit homeruns with McAvoy and Carlo..
DeBrusk is doing pretty well as well. They have some good players in the pipeline.

Yeah, they can't be truly unhappy at all with the way the draft went with getting Carlo and then McAvoy the next year. It would have hurt more if they were a team that didn't have Marchand, Bergeron, Krejci, and Pastrnak and needed the high-end skill of Barzal and Boeser.

Somebody should tell these AHL scorers that if you don't get a + on a PP goal for, You don't get a - on a PP goal against.

Nick Paul is rolling lately!

He had a high ankle sprain right before or at the very beginning of main camp right?

Those things linger so wouldn't be surprised if he is just a lot more comfortable now. Had a great development camp and hoping he gets another shot in Ottawa.

I haven't given up on him yet and think he can be a contributor at NHL level.

Anyone watch the last couple of Belleville games when the line of Paul - White- Sexton have been together. Paul and Sexton have been accumulating points but White has not. I know 3-4 games back White had a few good chances but did not cash.. I am wondering from those , that have watched, how White is playing, beyond the points , is he a factor?
