Going by this website: http://www.thesportster.com/hockey/top-15-worst-nhl-coaches-of-all-time/ they say Mike Milbury is the worst ever NHL coach in the history of the game. Just thought I'd compare the two coaches stats:

Jared Bednar results 23-57-4 (.287 win%)
Mike Milbury results 146-160-45 (.477 win%)
Joe Sacco results 130-134-30 (.492 win%)
Tony Granato results 104-78-17 (.571 win%)
Patrick Roy results 130-92-24 (.585 win%)
Joel Quenneville results 851-486-77-124 (.636 win%)

Jared Bednar wins 2.7 games in every 10 he coaches
Mike Milbury wins 2.6 games in every 10 he coaches
Joe Sacco wins 4.4 games in every 10 he coaches
Tony Granato wins 4.8 games in every 10 he coaches
Patrick Roy wins 5.3 games in every 10 he coaches
Joel Quenneville wins 5.6 games in every 10 he coaches

Jared Bednar wins 0.2738% of the time
Mike Milbury wins 0.2561% of the time
Joe Sacco wins 0.4421% of the time
Tony Granato wins 0.4837% of the time
Patrick Roy wins 0.5284% of the time
Joel Quenneville wins 0.5529% of the time

Few other websites claim Milbury as the worst. Do we have a contender in Bednar for the title? Scarily similar stats ! My insomnia kicked in on this one - sorry ! Hahahaha

Your math is way off on Milbury, you need to check your calculations again.:D

Edit: By simply looking at the numbers I see that your math is wrong on Granato also.

The results under Bednar are ridiculously bad. No other Avs coach has sucked so much and we have a few greats to choose from. If Bednar was the HC of a big market team there would be multiple threads on the main boards calling for his head and he would pop up on these kind of lists regularly. I guess he is lucky to be with the Avs.

Math shouldn't be off? Remember, there is a difference between win % as determined by the NHL, and the amount of times a coach "wins" games. The difference is whether you want to include ties, and OTL's (which was the 1st grouping of stats), or whether you want to say out of X amount of games (full stop), a coach turned Y amounts into wins.

Your math is off.

Milbury coached a total of 351 games. Of those, he won 146. That is 41.6%. so he would win slightly over 4 games out of 10.
Granato won 104 of 199 games, for 52.3%
The rest are correct (or very close).

Statistically, Bednar is the worst of the bunch so far.

the math is pretty bad and having your best player quit on the team halfway thru the season doesn't help bednar's case
