haven't played in a while, but they don't update rosters after a certain point. I don't remember them ever doing a free agency roster update.

Thinking about it, with no Vegas in NHL 17 I guess it would be impossible to release a roster update.

Meh I'll stick with BF1 and Just Cause 3 (thanks PSN) which should tide me over till Star Wars releases and in the name of the Tzar.

Haven't had an NHL game since the PS3 days and it was getting stale then.

I started a new season,just a heck of it,i wanted to know
how well a team full of rookies would do,i chosed the Avs,
superstar,salary cap on,....etc.,and did lots of trades
-> D 77 OVR G 66 OVR O 76 OVR ...btw. it its difficult as ****
to get a team full of rookies on the line up without going
under the salary cap floor.

San Antonio looked very interesting
(they won like 60+ reg games at every try)

I tried 3 times,in each time i suffered more than 60 losses
a season,couldn't even collect 30 points
also obviously,i got fired 3 times .

With one of my tries,my teams worst +/- player (d-man Chycrun)
had a +/- of - 98

I decided to try one more time,this time,instead of simming games,
i would choose -> play game,cpu vs cpu,5 mins.

8 games played,...7 wins 1 otl...i did sim one (won vs ARI 3-1),
is it easier to win games that way in NHL 17? or is EA kinda
weird with its games,with simming i lost 5-1,6-1,7-3,8-3,11-3
and stuff like that the entire season,well mostly, i did
score some wins ,all that with same settings.

Why the big difference?,the 5 min per period?
or because of the dumb **** AI in the play game mode.

The Canucks finished the regular season with a record of 41-32-9, 91 points and 15th overall. This was good enough for 3rd place in the Pacific Division and their first playoff appearance since the 2014-2015 season. Breakout seasons from second line forwards Brandon Sutter, who led the team in scoring with 68 points, and Brock Boeser helped alleviate the scoring woes of past seasons.

The Canucks swept the Edmonton Oilers in the first round, defeated the Minnesota Wild in 7 games in the second round, defeated the Dallas Stars in 6 games in the Western Conference Finals, and defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs in 6 games to win the Stanley Cup. Bo Horvat led the team in scoring and was awarded the Conn Smythe trophy as the playoff MVP.

The Utica Comets finished 2nd in their division and had the 3rd best overall record, but were eliminated in the first round by Binghamton.

From my experience it seems like you get punished for playing good, tight D. Dominate a team 10-0 shots in a period you can guarantee their first couple are going in your net. On the flip side, give up a few chances at the start of the game and your goalie will play lights out. Fking weird.

I don't know...maybe I'm looking for something to blame. Can anyone relate?

Its always like that in the EA NHL games. Frustrating. Try editing your sliders, and boost human goalie save reactions & things like that. Worked pretty well for me last year.

Are you playing the games yourself as well?
It seems the goalies are even worse than in NHL17. It's almost an absolute must that the first CPU shot has to go in and I've even mixed the sliders a bit. So frustrating and unrealistic.

I play with superstar and CPU difficulty 6/6 so that might be why, but the pattern seems to be the same all the time. First shot/shift you concede a goal -> 4-6th shot against you concede another one. Then the goalie becomes okay for a while and during mid second he concedes a goal or two again.

Playing a game right now as well. Shots 9-4 for me in the first and losing 1-3 against the Coyotes. 3/4 of their shots have gone in.

Maybe I'm just bad, but I can't seem to brake that pattern no matter what.

Edit: noticed this was the NHL 17 thread. But the same goalie problems seem to be on NHL 18 as well.

I'll play a game here and there but mostly I'll sim. If I play, my goalie lets in the same amount of goals, only faces less shots. It's only frustrating because he was Brodeur-esque his first two seasons. I mean I get that it's supposed to be a challenge but this is rediculous. My backup plays better so I think it's time to trade him and make the backup my starter, but not many teams are interested. The ones that are (Colorado, Edmonton) I'm making stronger or I own their 1st round draft pick (Chicago) and are fighting for last in the league and I prefer to not help them get better.

NHL 18 Franchise Classic Mode Trade difficulty Medium.

I have a long weekend, Wife and kids are gone for a week which leaves me with some free playing time and since I haven't done one of these in a while I decided to do one again.

Shocking headlines come out of Carolina as the team has been moved back to Hartford to bring back the Whalers. Not only has the team moved back but all players on the team were fired and signed over in Russia long term and will not be coming back to the NHL again. In their place the GM decided to hire Poland's national team... yes you heard correctly to play as the Whalers.

With this Shocking move the GM was fired on the spot and they hired Geoff Sanderson to pick up the pieces. Due to contract stipulations Team Poland will be the new Hartford Whalers for the first season back. When GM Sanderson was questioned about this he right away said that they are all on the trade block, make me any offer I will not refuse it. Even if it is for magic beans that make ice melt I will take it for them!

Everyone welcome back to Season 2 of the Hartford Whalers. GM Geoff Sanderson worked hard in the off season starting at the draft. Not winning the Lotto but picking number 2 GM Sanderson had this to say:

Really we want our guy who we think we are going to get anyhow. The team that won the Lotto wants to grab a D-Man, while we are looking for that #1 franchise center. we should be ok at number 2

This is pretty incredible to me.
For more reasons than one: no I am not playing as the Blues, no I did not touch any setting as far as goal scoring/per game goes or any points settings (don't even think you can do that). No one is setting him up with like 60 assists. Schwartz is the playmaker right now with only 36 in 40 games. Also I did not even edit Tarasenko's overall or stats, when I did edit alot, including Ovechkin with all 99's in shot.
Will he get 50 in 50? Will he get 60+? Will he get 82? We will seeeee!!!

Anyone else extremely frustrated with how random this all is once again? Took Arizona first year, dealt some players for picks, went full rebuild mode, and ended the season 51-22-9...
