Rank the best right wingers ever and explain why.

    1- Gordie Howe
    2- Rocket Richard
    3- Guy Lafleur
    4- Mike Bossy
    5- Jari Kurri
    6- Jaromir Jagr
    7- Bret Hull
    8- Boom Boom Geoffrion
    9- Pavel Bure

Bossy is the best for sure if he's on the list twice.

Ok...I'll make fun of this......how can anyone rate players that they never saw play?

I am one of the older guys here....and I have never seen Richard, Geoffrion, or Howe (in his prime) play.....

The real problem on most of these lists is calling them an "all-time list" when most
posters only include the players they saw.

I see it opposite actually......I agree that calling them "all-time" lists is not the way to do it....they should be addressed as "best I have seen" or something........but...to me it seems like these all-time lists always include players that most people here have never seen......I wonder if anyone here actually saw Richard play hockey?.....and on the same point, how many actually saw 99 play in the early/mid-80's? I bet there are loads of posters here that werent even born....yet they will make comments about how terrible the goaltending was in the 80's or other comments that they have no real idea on........anyway....

I'm pretty sure KOVALEV10 has seen every player on his list play (maybe with the exception of Richard)

To be honest I haven't seen Rocket Richard play obviously but everyone knows how good he was so I cant not include him in my list.. I saw Gordie play his last few seasons and Boom Boom his last 2 seasons as a member of the rangers. Other then that I've seen everyone play.

I myself am amazed at how posters can go on and on about players they have never seen a single game! This is especially true of prospects. But past generations too.

For some, HF is B.S. central.

I am in my mid-thirties and if I talk about guys I haven't seen I don't say arrogantly "this player was better than that" because at best I've heard gossip to that effect. Come on guys, make lists of guys you've never seen, based on what you've read and maybe a highlight goal or two you've caught. But don't act like a know-it-all unless you've seen at least a few games with a guy!

Are you refering to me? Because I've watched hockey since the late 60-s as a kid so I've seen em all.

    Uh, no.

I was responding to mothra's comments and about some posters. You? Not particularly. Though you haven't seen most of the players in the HHOF, you've seen the last few generations.

Humor aside, one would think that the man named by Mario Lemieux, Wayne Gretzky and Raymond Bourque as the best natural goal scorer ever is worthy of a higher ranking. As in higher than Guy Lafleur.

After all, those guys know a bit more about that than any of us, no?

(Of course, all of this is subjective, harmless opinion on a messageboard.)

You may have a point that he was a better goal scorer then Lafleur but Lafleur was a great goal scorer himself who didnt have a great playmaking center Bossy did in Trottier and Potvin on defense. Yes I kno he had the big three but those were more defensive then offensive minded defenseman. And lets not talk about Shutt. Also Lafleur was the much better playmaker as well. Overall it's close but if Lafleur had taken care of himself as in not smoke 2 packs everyday and drink he would've had 9 50 or more goal seasons as well. I mean he had 6 in a row and in the 7th year he scored 27 goals in 51 games. Anyhow Lafleur was the better playoff performer too. Also it should be taken into account that hockey news classed Lafleur as the 11th best player of all time while Bossy was ranked 20th.

You know, you are probably right about Guy. He created his own offense, but, and it's a big but, when it comes to scoring goals no one was better IMO. Not even Gretz or Lemieux
