55. SanJose Sharks: Shawn Mole

I would LOVE to hear an explanation for this pick. Do you have inside info or something?

In my eyes Mole is someone that wouldn't even be picked. He is ranked as like a 14th rounder, had 0 points on the year, was already eligible for the draft last year, and did zero to impress me in the 2 games I saw him in this year.

I am not criticizing, I am just really curious to know why you had him there. Thanks

Where's Ryan Garlock of the Spitfires? He was ranked 16th for N/A until injuries took there toll. Watching him play a few times and seeing some on tv he can take over a game for the Spits...I'll be surprised if he falls out of top two rounds and if he does hopes he makes it to Toronto's 3rd. :)

From the sounds of it many scouts and GM's will shy away from Evan McGrath like he shy's away from checks....he's regressed the last two years and seems to not care or actually just be losing skill.

**49. Chicago BlackHawks (Dallas): Corey Schneider***
Cant see that happening really either... Chicago is loaded in net already plus Thibault.. I think they will address defense in this draft.

I also don't think Mike Green will go before Kyle Chipchura or Drew Stafford

Actually I don't think alot of these will happen except for the obvious
Balej save this until draft day to see what actually happens

After thinking about it....Mike Green will probably go around then and will be possibly top 10...and Edmonton may take a goalie since they have not signed Drouin-Deslauiers.....but if they don't sign him will her re-enter or be free agent? becuase if he re-enters IMO he could be drafted first round again because he has franchise written on him once he stops letting in soft goals.

JDD will be signed by the Oil...count on it! The Oil are waiting for the playoffs in the Q before they draw things up. JDD, his agent and the Oil have all commented that they foresee no problems. He's excited and happy to be an Oil prospect. It'll be done long before the June deadline.

The Jackets could very well select Barker, but IMO they'll go with the BPA and IMO at this point that's Malkin.

Anaheim is unlikely to take Green, because Thelen and O'Neill have a higher potential, but you'll never know.

The Oilers already have a very good goaltending prospect.

Deslauriers is a good prospect but Edmonton's goaltending really doesnt stack up that well compared to the rest of the NHL. If Edmonton dont take a goalie because "they have a good prospect" then neither will 28 other teams..

FYI Balej - Phoenix owns Philadelphia's 2nd rounder (Amonte trade)

Green lack of size is his only problem, his offensive game is better than O'Neill. At this point I agree that probably Thelen is ranked higher than both Green and O'Neill and could be Anaheim target.

So yes another one that ranks Pineault in the second round.
Puzzling to me...

Good job nevertheless.

I guess is point production will hurt him in the draft, but this guy has skills. His potential is a PPQB, so I understand why they'll shy away from his 0 points in someting like 27 games, but he has GREAT SKILLS. I've seen him 3 times and he looked great, maybe i've catched him on his good day? He has the potential to be something like what Andy Delmore is right now. I would be surprise if he wasn't picked in the top 4th round, but I see him as a 2nd rounder. But i'm no professional scout so i'm might miss the boat on that one, but I think i'm right.

I'm going with the guys i've seen play and heard of, so it's sure that there will be a couple guys i messed. Who's Ryan Garlock SpItFiReZ?? What is his position and do you have any info on him?? Would love to hear you talk about him!

Anyway keep the comments comming, it's always fun reading feedback about something that you've worked really hard on!

Nice draft however I doubt Sawada goes to Boston in the 2nd. I see him as a 3rd-4th round player. He's a very good prospect but he hasn't taken the BCHL by storm. With the penultimate selection in the 2nd round I see the Bruins taking Blake Wheeler if he's available.

The Kings are so deep on defence that they have a real log jam so you are right in them not selecting a defenceman. You are also right in them not taking a foward as, they are equally stocked deep with second line back character/scoring players too. They do need a goalie and if, like last year when Dustin Brown fell to us Montoya drops into our position, I have to reckon we won't blink and snap him up right quickly.

I truly hope that your prediction (and many others) comes true with the Kings as, goaltending is one area that we are without a legitimate top timer.

To the rest, grand job. People who are hard critisizing Balej for his picks really should hold their jabs at him until they post their own Mock. It is easy to be critical of others when you yourself have nothing out there for others to do the same.

Of course there are a few debatable selections but, that is what is supposed to happen. When draft day comes we are all suprised anyways.

No such thing as a bad mock draft in my opinion.

17. Saint-Louis Blues: Alexander Radulov
18. Calgary Flames: David Bolland
27. Colorado Avalanches: Lukas Kaspar

47. Saint-Louis Blues: Julien Ellis

Radulov would be a good pick, but if I were Larry Pleau or Jarmo Kekalainen, I'd take Bolland or Kaspar ahead of Radulov if they were still on the board. All I've heard about Radulov is that he had a good showing at the Five Nations tourney, and it's dangerous to pick a guy based on his showing in one tournament.

Another poster touted Ellis for the Blues' pick. I don't see it. Unless there's some whiz-bang aspect of his game that's not evident from the stats, I don't see any reason why Eliis would go ahead of Martin Houle (Cape Breton) or Michael Wall (Everett). If I were Pleau or Kekalainen, those are the two goalies I'd be looking at for the second round, based on what I know now.

Otherwise, nice job. If you're interested in the Blues, see my poll on the draft over at the Blues board.

Ryan Garlock is a centerman for the Windsor Spitfires. He was aquired from Guelph Storm for Cam Janssen(NJ PRospect) and a pick in the OHL draft. IMO He has the potential to be second liner and a safe bet to be at least a 4th or 3rd liner...But if he develops could become possible first liner (big stretch but never know). Honestly though I think he will be a solid forward at NHL level...was also ranked i believe 16th N/A skater at mid season and has regressed in ranking due to a few nagging injuries.

Thanx a lot for the info! So he could be anywhere on the 4 lines and you say that it's safe to pick him and say that he'll become a 3rd or 4th liner. He really seems a pretty safe pick. Judging by his stats he seems to have progessed since the 2003 season, that's nice, scouts loves that. Any other info you can provide? Fast skater or not? Good hands? Deking ability? Is he a premium defensive forward?

Thanks again and i'm looking forward for more comments!

Good read Balej...

I think Paul Stastny will be a 2nd rnder for sure (don't think I seen him there)...

Bruce Graham will probably push higher as well...

I'm very interested to see where the dman go - Barker, Thelan & Mike Green...

Considering their number one need prospect-wise is an offensive defenseman, and Mike Green's already taken, I wouldd take that bet, if it weren't for Thelen being available as well. BM IMO will take any one of Green, Thelen or O'Neil if they're available. I could really care less which one it is, as there's no clear cut better prospect out of all three.
