Congrats Ville! Your prediction was correct. Avs in 6. A close game 6 saw the Avs pull out a 3-2 win.

For the Flames... it was a season of ups and downs and great challenges. Making the playoffs for the first time was certainly a high, as was just making it through the season without going bankrupt. Those three home games will make all the difference financially.

The Flames are heading into the off season with a lot of optimism. Next season will see the addition of Wojtek Wolski to their top six forwards, and an improvement in a majority of their young players, from Andrew Raycroft out.

The team has a very good combination of veterans in their primes and youth and should contend for a play-off spot again next season.

There are also several players such as Brandon Bochenski, Daniel Girardi and David Moss who impressed during parts of the last NHL campaign.

All of the Flames RFA's are signed with the exception of Chris Phillips. Offers are still on the table for both Phillips and UFA Vaclav Prospal.

The Flames do intend to make several big moves in the off-season. One is adding another top 6 defenseman. Jarome Iginla and Jason Williams have been heavily involved in trade talk, though the Flames are still contemplating various different scenarios.

The Flames have 1 first round draft pick this year, probably in the 25 to 30 range, and would like to move down in the order to add another 2nd round pick or two.

Congrats on what has to be considered a very successful season, Matt! You proved the wisdom of addition by substraction, and you're well on your way to a sustainable financial model. Best of luck in the off-season!
