Waiving Witkowski, Booth, trading Frk

opens up cap space and room for AA, Svech, and Bertuzzi

allows us to drop Abby to his deserved spot on the bottom line (getting replaced by AA), prob with Bert and Glendenning centering them

I can dream

Glad they got something done and he’s going to play NHL hockey this season.

Props to Kenny for holding his ground. Why AA held out all this time just to sign a deal like this, can’t say I understand that...

Way to go Kenny.
Leave the kid with a bad taste in his mouth.
Hope he and Mantha score 30 goals and Larkin scores 50-60 points .
Would love to see them staple all those horrible deals to Holland's forehead.

I'd love to see it because I want our players to excel and take the next step into legitimate stars in this league.

He can hold onto that bad taste for 4 seasons or until he's traded.

1.38mil for a 30 goal scorer would be a pretty amazing deal. Hope AA plays with fire and earns himself a contract more easily agreed upon next summer.

Btw, that reported figure of $1.3875m may not include the RFA adjustor. Which would make it $1.52m AAV if signed today.

So in the end the difference was $140k?

Something tells me it had to be as much or more about his role on the team and needing to hear it from Blashill.

Now go play your ass off kid. Make it so Blashill can't possibly staple you to the bench.

I'm going to miss the pages and pages detailing why AA isn't worth 2.1 mil. And Ezekiel can change his avatar back now.

Seriously this is good news. Athanasiou could increase his value and that's always a plus.

After all the chatter AA will be under the magnifying glass right away, I wonder how he does.

Glad this got done. Nothing good was going to come from dragging this out any longer. Even with the warts we are a much better team with him than without and he will stop hurting whatever trade value he may have.

I think we will never hear it but this was all about Trashill! It should no longer come as a surprise as a lot of the kids voiced how they feel about him.

Is the adjuster just for cap hit purposes? He would still just receive the $1.3875m

Yes, just for cap hit purposes. It doesn't change how much he gets paid.

And he actually only receives about $1.25m of the $1.3875m because he's missed almost 10% of the season.

In the end the difference sadly is zero since AA doesn't get paid for the 16+ days of the season he missed.

Math works out almost perfectly that AA will be paid $1.25m this season assuming the contract is registered with the NHL tomorrow.

Nice of Holland to see that AA receives the original $$ despite the runaround even though the cap hit is higher

Cap hit isn't going to be higher, as Ansar Khan posted on Twitter that Ken Holland told him he needs to move 1.3875 million to get AA officially signed.
