Good for Ron Hainsey though. Went from no playoffs ever to Stanley Cup champion in the span of a few months. Must be pretty surreal.

So in the last 10 years, Pittsburgh won it 3 times, Chicago 3 times and LA twice.

Getting pretty boring

Interesting how it works out.

Pittsburgh was on the verge of moving cities before they "won" the draft lotto for Crosby.

Chicago was in financial hell before Wirtz kicked the bucket. Those quick cup wins (plus the kid dropping the tv blackouts locally) saved them.

LA is part of the coveted huge Cali market. And the only time an 8th seed won a Cup.

.....couldn't have gone any better for Gary.

Who in their right mind would leave so much money on the table...

Well that's the thing, given the random concussions this year - how far away is he from no longer being in his right mind?

not much of a difference between picks 28 and 29

Depends on whether you're in the Oettinger camp or not on draft day. Dallas probably takes him at 29 if he's available.

Pens suck for a decade, get gifted Malkin and Crosby, and still can barely beat two budget teams, one of which came within one goal of beating them, the other came within a goal of getting to game 7 without their #1 center

Loser franchise no matter how many cups they win. Hate seeing utter incompetence get rewarded.
If this was Euro soccer, they would have been sent to 2nd division for sucking, not been rewarded with Crosby.

There are some embarrassing posts in here, though I suppose things are understandably still raw for some. Please, lets refrain from making our fanbase look like a chump, dumped, group of jaded ex's.

Pittsburg was the best team in the NHL all year, they have two of the very best forwards in the NHL on their team, including the very best player in the NHL. Both were able to play to an elite level all playoffs, and their goaltending was excellent.

There is no shame in losing to them in seven games + over time, though that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. The ref complaining, and conspiracy theory Gary crap is for MTL and Tor fans, not us.

The Preds were solid for a few games, but over all were outmatched by a batter team. They were unable to put up as much of a fight as we were because they are not nearly as clutch. We played well beyond our skill because the boys never quit, and always believed that they could win, the Preds didn't have that.

Our team showed how far heart, competitiveness, determination, and will can get you, along with decent forward skill, solid if streaky goaltending, and the best defence man on the planet. We have skill to add, and if we can up the skill to match our intangibles we'll be right back here next year in the thick of things.

The best team in the NHL won the cup this year, no excuses needed, and no reason to be angry. Let's continue to be gracious in defeat, as the players on our team are, and celebrate the positives of this remarkable season.

To the off season and beyond!

Giving the Preds a 5 on 3 and 4-0 PPs is a weird way of the NHL showing bias for the Pens. :sarcasm:
