If more than two of them are playing for us by then I’d be pretty surprised. Id be surprised if our team core was the same as well.
Personally I have little doubt that Necas and Bean will be seeing time at that point, or at least Bean being a prospect along the lines of what Theodore was for Anaheim before he was sent to Vegas. Everyone else is a bit more of a tossup but considering that Kuokkanen basically made the team out of camp this past year I'd lean toward there being at least 3 from that group in the league. Also forgot Foegele in that group, his protected status expires next year as well.

Possibly, I thought they were targeting 19-20 as their first season. Really not happy if the answer is 20-21 considering that's the season that Necas, Kuokkanen, Saarela, Goat, Roy, and Bean all lose their exempt status.

I'm not to worried about that. Assuming Necas is what we think he is, he'd be protected. We'd likely lose an NHLr before losing one of those guys, and even if we did lose one of them, it's not the end of the world. Staal (NMC), Aho, TT, Lindy, Skinner, Necas, + forward acquired via UFA/trade this year for F. Slavin, Pesce, Hanifin (depending if we re-sign Faulk and make no trades) on D.

Again, a lot depends on trades, UFA signings, and how guys develop, etc...but I bet a team takes a Fleury or TVR and maybe even McGinn before one of those guys you list. If one of them blows up and becomes a really good NHLr, then we just expose someone else and protect him. We are very likely going to lose a good player this time around no matter what.

Quite possibly. I wouldn't put it past Francis to do what he did last time and swing a deal for a late round pick going to Seattle in exchange for them taking an impending UFA that we have no intention of signing. Which at that point could actually very well be TVR. With McKeown and Martin on their way, as much as I like what TVR brings, he's expendable.

That may be true. It's a little different though this time around. Last time, we were protecting Lee Stempniak so Vegas was fine with making that move since they it was basically Stempniak, PDG or a pick. It was pretty slim pickings.

Not sure Seattle would be fine with a late round pick when guys like Fleury, TVR, Bean, McGinn or others may be there for the choosing.

It's going to be a whole lot different. We won't be able to protect Slavin, Pesce, Hanifin, or Aho all for free this time around. They'll actually take up a protection spot this time around.

We're gonna lose a decent player this go around or we'll give them a 1st rounder to keep their hands off our NHL guys.

Pretty much this. I'd rather just lose 1 player or a draft pick than 2 players.

I think we should worry much more about finding more quality players than we should worry about the impact of losing a third liner at a moment when every other team will be losing a third liner as well. Seattle, like Vegas, is going to get a serviceable player from most every team. We can sort out the expansion draft when we get there, but the world won't end. No matter who you have exposed, you can only lose one player.

Necas loses his exempt status because he played 1 NHL game this year? That seems like a huge load of shit

Yep, that's where I'm at. We lose a Fleury, Gauthier, Roy, Kuokkanen, etc.. it's not the end of the world. And if one of those guys plays so well that you need to protect them, all the better.

It also shouldn't be forgotten that we will likely have to expose players that have played a certain number of games the previous 1 or 2 seasons just like this last time. It's very difficult to predict how that will play out in addition to who is on this roster in 2 to 3 years.

You are likely right with the caveat that it may be a "lesser good" player. The overall quality of our team has improved, so instead of a good 3rd or 4th liner, it is likely a 2nd/3rd line tweener we're talking about.

Not sure Seattle would be fine with a late round pick when guys like Fleury, TVR, Bean, McGinn or others may be there for the choosing.

This is the type of scenario that I see and we probably are still able to either use a late or, at worst, mid round pick to steer them toward the guy we'd least likely be hurt to lose.

I don't believe that's how it works. I think it works based on contract years and number of professional games played, but I can't recall exactly.

Just to follow up on my previous post:

Blackhawk fans also get 50% off Papa John's when the team scores 2 goals, instead of the 3 our team requires.

I can't believe we've been screwed over by this promotion for so long and I never knew.

Papa Johns is smart as hell and never has to give away free pizza in Raleigh.
