Solid move, gives them a goalie option if they cannot retain Raanta as well. So it's a decent move. Rieder was being used sparingly with little result on the score card this season.

If they can get Raanta back they can definitely make a run for the playoffs next year with that tandem. Not a contender, but perhaps a wildcard spot. They got off to one of the worst starts I've ever seen with goaltending playing a huge factor in that.
