Won't this affect Round Two as comp picks will be awarded for unsigned '04 1st round draftees who re-enter? OR do comp picks also get awarded for all '04 unsigned draftees --awarded one round after their '04 draft position?

Also--are there any 1st rounders from '04 who are unsigned and have to re-enter the '06 draft?

yes. so far I have heard that Boston will get a comp pick for not signing Lars Jonsson.

comp picks are only for first round picks unsigned.

no there are no first rounders from 04 unsigned and re-entering the draft (Wheeler and Schneider are NCAAers and don't have to be signed until they graduate)

As far as I know, Jonsson will be a UFA and won't re-enter the draft. The bruins get the 37th pick in the draft.
Couldn't they get the compensatory 2nd round pick and then go and sign Jonsson as a UFA? Is that allowed?

Blackhawks did that w/ Adam Munro -- let him go, got the 59th pick in 2003 (Michal Barinka) as compensation ... and then signed Munro when they had goalie injuries (Thibault, Passmore, etc).
