Apparently it's time to remind everyone of the long-standing NO TANK TALK policy we've had in GDT's for quite some time.

GDT's are for fans of the team to gather and discuss the game much in the same way you'd be if at the game yourself. We do not tolerate cheering against the team from outsiders and in that same note we are not permitting it from our "fans" to cheer against a win or the team's success. It is by definition trolling (see below).

2) Trolling: Do not make posts or threads with the sole intent of starting a dispute. Please note that a person disagreeing with your opinion is NOT trolling. Please keep it civil even if you're sure the other person is wrong. When visiting the team forums, please note that these are fan forums for that team and are here mainly for the enjoyment of that team's fans. Do not visit team forums to cheer against nor demean their team. In other words, if you want to cheer for the Habs and criticize the Bruins, do it on the Habs board. And if someone is doing the opposite on the Bruins board, don't start flaming them to defend the honor of your team. Either ignore it or respectfully disagree and move on. Copying posts from one HFBoard forum to another for this purpose is considered trolling/flaming as well. Wishing injury/illness on anyone (players, members, etc.) will be regarded as trolling/offensive in most cases.

Complaining, griping, or just being in general grumpy about aspects of the game has and always will be part of being a fan of a team performing poorly but there is a very distinct difference between that and actively cheering for a negative outcome. It not only creates dissent among our members but often becomes a spark point that leads to some general nastiness that requires moderation and infractions. We don't want that so please contain the tanking talk to outside the GDTs and still be mindful you are inviting criticism from fellow fans who support the team no matter what in those other threads as well.

Finding a silver lining in a loss when it comes to the draft lottery is one way to help ease the pain of another unsuccessful season for some of our passionate fans. I would hope fans on both sides of this issue can respect the other.

Folks who just can't help themselves with the pro tanking posts will most likely find their posts deleted and if that hint is not observed, they will find an infraction to remind them of this policy and potentially a thread ban.

The entire moderating team appreciates your understanding in this matter.

[We will stick this thread after today so it stays up on the front page]

Thread is still pinned and applies to PGT's as well as the regular gameday threads.

Just getting out front of this one to re-pin again...and I was about to post pretty much the same thing Eddy emphasized in his last post.
