Step one of any proper rebuild would be to jettison Price as his contract/age wouldn't align with a young rebuilding team.

Habs aren't really in cap space squeeze and could possibly retain. How much would they have to retain to get say, Winnipeg's 1st round pick?

Price 50% retained for Frederik Andersen, Kapanen and a 1st round pick.

No that's a bit rich for the Leafs.More like Price 50% retained + Mete + Galchenyuk + Habs 1st for Carrick, the great Bozak and Anderson. Not sure that would get Lou's attention though.

3 years ago - Habs had arguably the top 1-2 player punch in the league outside of Pittsburgh. Not sure if they were exactly #2 but can't be far off.

Subban got signed to a big deal. Fantastic he's with us long term. Oh wait...then they trade him.

Now you want to do the same with Price?

It's been 7 games. And price is NOT overpaid by the Habs when they still have an extra 9M of unused cap space. We can afford him.

Price trades talks are pointless, his contract is amongst the least likely to be traded in the nhl. Habs aren’t going to retain any significant amount for nearly a decade in an attempt to make it more palatable to another team.

Like it or not Habs fans, Price is going to be a Hab for a lonnnng time

I don't care how much cap any team has....10.5 million for a goalie is being overpaid.

Only way he's dealt is if the habs retain at least 25% on his new contract (so the goalie coming back the other way is comparable) + a few assets. Say rinne/andersen/schneider type salaries would work.

I mean.. it's so outlandish.. you are moving one of the premier goalies in the league, so then being asked to retain to acquire him seems doubly silly.

That said, if you retained 25-35% people would be beating down your door with offers.

I don't think Price is getting moved unless he walks into the owners office and demands it.

Habs don't retain on him so no that's not a way he's dealt.

For those who just throw shit at the wall, please see below, this will inform you a little better on Carey Price's contract, kicking in July 1st 2018

No.1: He has a FULL NMC, so he's the one deciding where to go if he ever decide to go anywhere (Current Contract: Modified NTC, NMC)
-----------------------------------------------------
No.2: His ENTIRE contract is built on large bonuses payable on July 1st of every single year (45.750M in the first 4 years), so only team that have actually money to throw away on July 1st can afford him

So, before proposing something, ask yourself... Can "Insert Team" afford to spend this kind of money on one player?
