he coached sens prospect Perron. Perron said he used him in a two way role and had him focus on changing his game from an offensive player to a two way guy

He and Cameron already know and respect each other, plus he also apparently gave in his resignation because Roy was difficult was to work with per DLC... could explain some of the defensive lapses (trying to work in Roys 'system') but I think he will do just fine here. Also it was reported earlier in the year that Roy was going through some personal difficulties and it affected his relationship with the staff and the players.

Didn't both assistants quit in Colorado? Sounds like there's something rotten going on behind the scenes with that team.

Awesome.

The praise he received from Hedja is about as high as it gets.

If it's him, I'm excited to see what he can do for the d corps.

I am shocked to hear that there might be friction and drama on a team led by Patrick Roy. Who would have seen that coming? (Maybe the bathroom door at Roy's house if it could talk.) That Colorado situation is heading for an ugly divorce. Sakic will have to fire Roy eventually, likely some time this coming season, and those two won't end up speaking for years to come.

Tourigny sounds like Dave Cameron's kind of guy - no drama, low key, great teacher. As an added bonus, it will be good to have someone in hockey operations to give interviews to French media in their own language. In this market, that is a plus...

One thing I'm excitted to see is how the Coaching staff alters the system now that they have a full offseason to prepare.

It's my understanding that Cameron just went forward with MacLean's system (with a few tweaks) when he took over. We could see some different looks this year, hopefully preserving some of the aspects that worked, and fixing those that did not.

Rumours says that Groulx is going to Colorado.

I'd really like Groulx here but he's more of a motivator, not a X's and O's type of guy. He's made to be a head Coach, not a assistant.

Isn't Jason Smith our d coach?

I believe Jason Smith is actually employed as the Director of Player Personnel, or something like that.

If I'm not mistaken, he came down to help behind the bench when Mark Reeds was having health issues and had to miss extended periods of time.

I would imagine that Cameron is being given the green light to hire his own staff and Smith could go back to his front office position.

I was going to write the same thing about Roy. It's shocking that he's butting heads with people, shocking. Once he inevitably gets fired from Colorado (because all coaches do) I wonder if he'll get another NHL head coaching gig again.

I hope he is a coach for as long as possible because that makes the chance of him playing a game the slightest bit possible if both the goalies go down in one game.

Idk about that DCs "5-5-5" system that he kept on repeating all the time seemed to be the integral part of his own system.

Cant fathom anything other than minor changes.

I think because of what happened in Florida, the NHL will modify its rule to include a possible 3 string goalie in case both go down.
