There was a site posted last year where you could get the up-to-date attendance figures for the AHL. Went to the site and all they have is up to 2016/2017 season, nothing for this year. Is there another site where you can find the attendance figures?

Ice Hockey Attendance Stats

Screwy site though, you gotta read through the numbers and stats. HDb had Hartford drawing league lowest, and I dont think Binghamton is averaging more fans then Utica. Its looks like some of the figures average out away games to for whatever reason. I think Binghamton has only drawn over 4000 just a few times this season, while Utica has consistently filled their arena up. Hartford drawing less then Binghamton or Utica is a shock though. Springfield is the big surprise doing well. All the know it alls wrote Springfield off long ago. Reinforces the belief a good local name, engaged parent club, and fresh start good things happen.

That almost has too much information. If you scroll to the section that lists just home attendance it aligns with the Hockeydb website numbers.

Terrible numbers for Hartford in that big arena. Odds the Rangers are looking for a home with better attendance and support for their AHL franchise? Only thing Hartford offering right now is logistics for player moves and travel.

Depends who are paying the bills on operations costs. A deal for the Rangers in Hartford like that of what Binghamton or Utica does and they wouldn't care how many are attending. The NJ Devils while in Albany I was told received "ZERO" advertising revenue, the local Albany news paper and the county government got that money. In Albany, the Devils also had to incur the costs of switching out the floor. Albany's arena is very busy from fall to spring between basketball, concerts, wrestling, motocross, monster trucks, and other events it was costly for the hockey team. The Devils also had to practice away from their own home rink. If the Rangers are looking elsewhere Utica or Syracuse would be ideal.

The Wolf Pack used to have the highest lease cost in the AHL. Their costs were so high per game that when they found out how much it was to rent out the DCU Center for two playoff games a couple years back they told some of the Sharks employees still there that the combined cost of the two games was under half of what they paid for one game at the XL Center.

Their attendance has been horrid for years and it's never looked good in that building. Even 15 years ago.

I'll believe the Rangers are gonna move when I see it.

Maybe it's time to tell franchises to stop wasting their time and move into the movie-studio-like buildings with maybe seating for 200 like they're trending to do anyway.

And that's all sports at most levels.

Backstory on the Springfield ownership group and management team here.
Basically, the Pompea regime that owned the Falcons at the end was incapable of (or unwilling to) properly promoting the team, and attendance suffered accordingly. A self-fulfilling prophecy that resulted in the sale of the team to AZ.
Little credit, IMO, should be given to the new parent club, as since FLA arrived 1 1/2 seasons ago, Springfield's on-ice record is likely 30th out of 30. The true MVP is the new GM Costa, who has taken best practices from all AHL teams and created a promotional culture that has not been seen in Springfield -- ever.
Essentially, "If you work it, they will come." The Falcons owner and Daddy's Girl simply never "worked it."
