That’s a yikes. Mavs are getting some crazies.

Odd organizational setup, but good to delay the inevitable drama that they’ll bring on themselves.

Even though he'll make a killing financially I'm still surprised Cuban would sell his team. A lot of pro sport team owners ( I'm looking directly at you Jerrah ) love the prestige that comes with owning that team. That's why a lot of these teams stay in the same family for generations.

Thirty-seven states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico have launched legal betting markets in the past five years. Texas and California, the most populous states, however, have not joined the sports betting boom yet. But Texans are still finding ways to bet. According to estimates by gambling research firm Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, Texans bet $6.23 billion annually on sports, but, without legal options, use local bookies or online sportsbooks located offshore in an untaxed environment.

"While each state, including Texas, gets to decide which gaming offerings are right for its citizens, we do know there is a rampant illegal market and legalization is a path to protecting consumers, providing oversight, and generating tax revenue," Cait DeBaun, vice president of strategic communications for the American Gaming Association, said in a statement to ESPN.

Not to mention sports teams are generally cash cows (especially the Mavs, being a popular NBA team) and a near guaranteed source of income.

His daughters are nearing adult age so maybe they just have no interest in taking over when the time comes.

If Texas and California were their own countries they'd both be in the top 15/20 for GDP. Surprises me that neither have legalized sports betting, there's so much money to be made in those two states.

Texas alone has eight Big 4 teams, three MLS teams and six major college football programs.
