What They're Saying

BGSU Head Coach Ty Engler:

“He’s a good sized kid. He really skates well. He’s a smart kid, in the classroom and on the ice. We think he has a real chance to come to Bowling Green and be a really, really good college defenseman. The sky is the limit for him.”

From the Newmarket Era:

Loaded with potential as a defence-minded defenceman, the Sharon resident was hampered by a bulging disk in his back for a large portion of the 2014-15 Ontario Junior Hockey League season.

“It was almost like paralyzing at times,” recalled Smith, who was limited to 30 regular season games due his back issues. “It was annoying to say the least. One time I thought I was ready to come back; I sneezed and it was three more weeks. It was so finicky. It was brutal last season.”

The invisible hand was abandoned by the US long ago.

So the invisible hand is once again invisible!

I believe that "The Wealth of Nations" is still read by a few people. There used to be a man who portrayed Adam Smith at the Milwaukee Public Museum. That was about 15 years ago.

It seems appropriate that this Adam Smith is a scholar!

Reminds me of another unspectacular NCAA dman we drafted late, Jeff Foss.

Ultimately will probably never amount to anything, but it's a better place to draft defensive d-men than in early rounds

Foss hasn't scored a goal since 2011. Ouch!

Smith scored 6 goals last season. Foss had about 8 in his entire career.

We'll see if Smith produces any real offensive output, but I wouldn't expect much more than what Foss generated at RPI. For what it's worth, that was the first player I thought of as well. I don't expect him to pan out, but if he could be a #7 for a year or two, then we got more than most out of our 6th rounder. Anything more than that would be gravy.
