[Winger for Hire]

The middle of both of these lineups should give both staffs nightmares.

This will be a fun match up. I really liked the Pirates team. Classic hitting vs pitching match up. Not that the Pirates have bad hitting or I have bad pitching, but there are certainly obvious strengths with both teams.

I'm conceding the fact that the Pirates have better starting pitching. Mine is nothing to sneeze at (Williams is thought to be on par with Mathewson/Alexander) but obviously Smokey Joe Williams and Whitey Ford doesn't compare with a Big Unit/Pedro 1-2. I do like my 3 & 4 and bullpen better, but the Pirates take the overall pitching matchup. Therefore, I put together some stats to compare the offense/defense.

As far as offense, the 162 game averages are as follows:

Pirates: 95 R, 23 HR, 102 RBI, 9 SB, .301 AVG, .380 OBP, .879 OPS, 137 OPS+

Naps: 113 R, 22 HR, 109 RBI, 19 SB, .316 AVG, .409 OBP, .925 OPS, 144 OPS+

Naps: +31.9

That's about the only thing I'm sure of here, these were definitely my top two AL teams.

In yet another 9th ATD nailbiter, the Naps hang on in 7 games with Hornsby once again leading the charge. A 4-3 series win over the Pirates puts UL back in the championship round.
