At this point, trash records not only get us in the playoffs, but might let us play at home in the first round.

Yep. That's what's got me pretty pumped about where we're currently sitting. It really is time to think about home ice advantage, and our opponent for the first round, methinks.

I love checking this thread after wins. Hits me right in the feels.

17 more points and the jets are a 100% lock.
The only way they can't make it now is to have a collapse of all collapses.

According to Sportsclub, Jets are up to 93% probability of home-ice advantage in the 1st round (i.e. 1st or 2nd in the Division).

They project that with an 11-9 record the Jets have a 90% chance of home ice in round 1. 9-9-2 leaves them at 74% chance of home ice in round 1.

Assuming nothing completely bizarre happens, we’ll be favoured in our first round match-up.

If we matched up with the Stars in the first round I would cry tears of happiness given how Laine has had their number.

What’s the record for hat tricks in one playoff round? :sarcasm:
The Stars literally cannot skate with the Jets.
Even after a back to back they can only keep up for a period.

Am I missing something? I thought if there were four teams from each division in the playoffs, they would stick within the division for the first two rounds, and crossover only happens if one of the divisions has 5 teams in the playoffs. But this graphic has crossover happening even though there are four from the Central and four from the Pacific.

First seed in the conference gets WC2, the other division winner gets WC1. See last year's double crossover in the east (MTL vs NYR and WSH vs TOR in the first round).

Okay, thanks, but that kind of defeats the purpose of having divisions to create playoff rivalries within them. If they're doing it the way you describe, they might as well just go 1v8, 2v7 etc. like the previous way.

First round matchup vs the Wild is now approaching 50% after the Preds loss.

^^ I think there's a copy/paste error in there. We played Detroit, not St. Louis, and it's a 'W', and not a 'L' :)
