CAPITALS (30-15-5) at PENGUINS (28-21-3)
7 p.m. ET; SN, TVA Sports, ATTSN-PT, NBCSWA

Capitals at Penguins preview

The Game

The Pittsburgh Penguins will be without first-line right wing Conor Sheary when they host the Washington Capitals at PPG Paints Arena on Friday.

After missing Pittsburgh's past two practices, Sheary is listed as week to week with a lower-body injury sustained in a 5-2 win against the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday. He has 19 points (12 goals, seven assists) in 52 games this season.
Forward Bryan Rust will move from fourth-line right wing, where forward Ryan Reaves could play Friday, to Sheary's spot on the first line.

The Penguins will try to match their season-long four-game winning streak. Pittsburgh is 8-2-0 in its past 10 games.

The Capitals, who lead the second-place New Jersey Devils by five points in the Metropolitan Division, will attempt to win their third straight game following a three-game losing streak (0-1-2). They have scored nine goals in their past two games after scoring six in their previous three.
Washington, 8-2-2 in its past 12 games, lost 3-2 to Pittsburgh on Oct. 11 and defeated the Penguins 4-1 on Nov. 10.

Players to watch

Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin has 15 points (six goals, nine assists) in his past 11 games.
Penguins center Sidney Crosby's next goal will be his 400th in the NHL. He has 20 points (three goals, 17 assists) in a 10-game point streak.

Reaves is a perfect fit for this game, anyone not thinking so may want to reconsider.

Glad Reaves is back. Not glad to see that god awful shitty mess of a fourth line back together though.

Will be fun to read how it's Reaves fault his linemates have AHL talent and he's holding them back.

Hopefully Reaves challenges the blueline to throw when Kuhn trips over it again....

Sad that we didn't call up Sprong. Going from Rust to a useless unskilled Goon on L4 is gonna suuuuck.

Just win baby!!! Even though Sullivan drives me crazy with his slow-to-adapt lineup changes, just win boys!

Or they are collectively holding each other back because none of them have legit NHL talent?

This is the biggest game of the season to date.

Will they continue progressing towards the playoffs, or will they disappear like a fart in the wind?

I just hope Guentzel scores a couple of goals so in Sullivan in his 2017-18 season moron logic, bumps him up to the 1st line where he belongs and puts Simon on the 3rd line and have 3 effective lines.

LGP!

Hoping for another very strong game from Murray, would love to see him really get back on track, despite his family tragedy.

At this point, call up Baby Blue, see what we can do in the 3-spot. At least we know Kuhn-Sheahan-Reaves can provide flashes of competence.
