Liked last games line minus Weise playing. Would love to see Filp and Patrick switch

I would love something like this:

Giroux-Couts-Simmonds
Raffl-Patrick-Voracek
Leier-Laughton-Konecny
Weal-Filp-Weise

That there is the true 4th line. That is a much more balanced and more skilled top 9. Puts Patrick with better people too.

This game will tell us a lot about this team.
Agree. A test to play hard and be better than the competition. These are all NHL caliber players and everyday means we have to come in and play. We play hard and execute, we win.

I did a playthrough of my own of this game on NHL 18 and won 6-0. Clearly an omen!

In case you need any more reason to distrust the realism of EA Sports, check out the first star of the game.

I am more intrigued by the third star. Patrick must have really torn it up in the first two periods.

I hate Filppula, but I still think he's more noticeable & less of a mark so far than Patrick. I just don't see the issue with bringing Patrick along slowly. He's clearly not 100%, only 19, & he's the slowest forward on the team. His possession stats must be among the very worst centers in the league. Many blame his linemates, but for 1/3 of his ES shifts he's played with Simmonds & another 1/3 with Konecny. It's more than his linemates. He just hasn't been an NHL player yet. He will, but not by putting him in situations he isn't ready for. I'd let him go to the WJCs.

Patrick actually got some ice time in the third but ended with only about 10 minutes total. He assisted on all three of Weisebiscuit's goals.

Konecny scored two goals and didn't even hit five minutes of ice time so maybe the game's not so unrealistic after all.

At the end of the season, sure but nowhere, so far, is there the remotest evidence that Patrick is ready for second line minutes. Quite the opposite in fact. Let him find his way. Otherwise, you're looking at Danius Zubrus 2.0. Let's all say it together, "this is not a playoff team yet. Development of the young nucleus is all that matters."
