Wheeler liked the first 2 picks more than the next 2 as just another opinion.
It’s funny to have him bitch about our 4th pick, the #164 pick in the draft.
If you look at drafts since 2005, when they went down to 7 rounds, only 191 players drafted at #164 or later have played in the NHL.
13 have over 500 games played. 21 have over 400 GP. 39 have over 250 GP. 68 have over 100 GP.
Only 31 have over 100 points and and 44 have over 50 points.
24 Goalies, 50 defensemen and 117 forwards.
Organizing by team does show how sustained success is tied to good drafting (and player development), San Jose is a juggernaut in the later rounds here especially with 16 of these players.
While the cutoff is arbitrary (Bratt was taken at #162 so he misses the cut), we managed to do the worst here among teams that existed before 2017. Davies from 2016 is our only player on the list.
