The head-to-hear Home Run Derby format is great, but once everyone figured out that the key to winning is rapid-fire grooved pitches, it's no longer as fun as it was...
Like in Cleveland, Alonso was muscling bad pitches over the wall to walk-off his opponent; that was great. But the last two derby's, he hasn't been able to overcome a terrible pitcher.
The solution is to have a machine pitch, so each guy gets the same number of pitches; and time it so we can see them land. Like one pitch every eight seconds.
