Michkov all day long. The guy is special, and with our impediments to competition over the next two years, waiting for him won't be too bad. You would think that Kap would be intrigued with the thought of playing with him, which would be another reason for him to stick around. If he doesn't, then boom, we have another superstar player. Smith simply isn't at the same level.

He just blew past Hughes production at the USNTDP, and you could make an argument that Perreault was a big part of that, but one of them is a top 5 consensus center and the other is a winger projected to go somewhere in the 20s. I'm not so sure that given our desperate need for a center and the fact that Michkov won't be here until after Kaprizov leaves, Smith isn't a competitive pick. It's all moot cause we won't get either of them, but if we did have this pick (which is the assumption I'm operating on for these polls), Smith could be the 1C we've been looking for before Kaprizov leaves, which might go a longer way towards getting Kaprizov to sign than the prospect of playing with another undersized winger who may or may not come over if Kaprizov signs an extension.
