let me know if I omitted anyone that should be on the poll
Next, the canadiens. Seems to be 3 clear cut candidates for this one.
Nick Suzuki
- leading point producer and goalscorer on the team. 10 more goals and 14 more points than the next closest player. Only player on the team close to a PPG with 69 points in 73 games.
Mike Matheson
- 3rd most points on the team, but is 10th in points for defenseman league wide! And has a 30 point lead over the next highest scoring defenseman on the team.
Sam Montembeault
- .905 sv%, which is 34th best. Middle of the pack for goalies that have played more than 20 games. But when you consider the team is 25th in GA/GP and 23rd in PK%. He's perhaps been better than surface level stats let on.
HM to caufield who is 2nd in points and goals on the team
And to Slafkovsky, who has had a respectable sophomore season. He is actually 3rd in points just behind Caufield since the start of 2024.
Lastly, I think Cayden Primeau is worth mentioning. Has a .913 sv% in 18 games. Ofc far too few games to be in consideration, but is statistically one of the best backups in the league.
