We'll definitely see Patriks Berzins at least in the camp, as he had a very impressive second half of the season in the Latvian league. Same probably applies to Klavs Veinbergs, perhaps Kristers Brauns as well.

Are Bukarts and Vitolins the sons of the former NHLers?

Bukarts is the brother of Roberts and Rihards (Latvian NT players) but their father never played anywhere near the NHL level. Raimonds isn't related to Harijs of the NHL fame either as far as I know, definitely not his son.

So who are the sons of famous dads?

Wouldn’t be surprised if this team made QF over one of Slovakia or Czechia. All it takes is 1 game and Slovakia could be without most of their drafted players.

I think the poster you are quoting just assumed as there are many well-known Latvian hockey names on the team. In actuality though, only Lavins is the one with a reasonably famous dad.

Ansons likely unavailable - Abols doesn't expect that he'll join the camp due to the long Memorial Cup run and preparations for the next season. For a team like Latvia, missing any leaders is a big hit.

Abols wants to use only those 2002-born players which are significantly better than the younger ones, as the next tournament is already in December.

Karasa and Naumovs first cuts from the camp.
