Nielsen - no choice, NMC
Zetterberg - If he's not LTIRetired, do the red wings dare expose him and risk that he retires if selected?
----
AA - unless he signs a big contract and flops
Mantha - Ditto
Larkin - Ditto

I'd protect Dekeyser, probably. But who cares?

Goalie
Who cares?
Pretty sure Nielsens NMC becomes a M-NTC this summer, So he can be left unprotected.

Wouldn't Dahlin not have to be protected? 2020

Drafted in 2018, rookie in 2019, Not need to protect by 2020.

I understand what you're saying, but he doesn't need a protection slot.
Yeah pretty sure Dahlin wouldn't need to be protected, He'd be in a similar deal as Larkin. Pretty sure it has to be at least 3 years of Professional play and he'd only have 2 years.

I mean Toronto didn't need to worry much about the expansion draft this time. When most of your good players are in their first 3 years as pros you have an easy expansion draft. Guys like Rasmussen, Hronek, Cholowski, Saarijarvi and our '18 picks will be exempt. Now whether any of those kids turn into protection worthy players anyhow is another matter.

Hronek, Svechnikov and Saarijärvi are 3rd year pros before 2020 summer.

They are not exempt if the expansion draft rules are the same as 2017. Only 2nd year pros were exempt.

AHL seasons were counted as pro. NCAA (guys like Cholowski) and Canadian juniors were not. Also AHL amateur try-out wasn't counted as a pro season.

All 2018 draftees are exempt but guys from 2017 or earlier not so.
