You guys like won't like hearing this but even if we give up a top 3 pick next draft it's not like we gave it up for nothing - we still have Duchene right now who is not going to take an extra year or two to develop. Cost controlled? No not at all and we better make sure we re-sign him but we have a ton of other prospects coming in plus whoever we pick in 2018 who will all be cost controlled and we have great leadership guiding them.

Keep the tank going strong this year, keep the prospect cupboards stocked and hope for the best next season. If we suck we'll unload assets at the deadline for at least a 1st if not more. And if you're worried about the avs winning the lottery with our pick remember at the very worst they only have an 18% chance to win.

I'm very excited to see what 27 year old Matt Duchene develops into.

If we plan to trade Karlsson, and are picking 7 or 8ish, we should keep next year's pick. We'd have a legit shot at Hughes.

It really depends on the type of return we are getting. Keep in mind we are a basement team this season with a hampered Karlsson. Healthy Karlsson carries us to being a bubble team at the very least. A good return minus hampered Karlsson wouldn't be as bad as some people think. Could end up finishing right outside a playoff spot or right in the bubble, but it all depends. A potential top 5 pick + a potential haul of good young players + picks speeds things up a lot, especially when you consider the other guys coming up and the guys who will be better in the NHL as soon as next year (Chabot, White, etc.).

But yeah pls keep the King pls, lol.

Three games in four nights vs Carolina x2 and the Islanders. Hopefully we go 0-3, can’t afford to be picking up meaningless points.

at least NYR and Chicago are building some room.

I’m not worried about us catching Chicago, Edmonton and New York. We need Montreal and Detroit to start picking up some points. Would be nice if Vancouver and Arizona could do the same.

Realistically, we finish 26th or lower.

Dunno if this was already posted here.

Slightly better than last season.

So last yr there were only 15 teams in the lottery but this yr there will be all 31 teams? Regardless of the odds it could very easily go to any team including one of the best teams in the NHL this yr. Somehow, that just doesn't seem fair. The lottery should only be for the teams who did not make the playoffs.

If Ottawa remains in the top 6 to draft there is a chance that one of the players ranked higher could fall to them or they could move up if someone doesn't mind falling back a little. Or they could just pick the best player available at that draft position & still get a very good future player. Lots of possibilities. #keepthepick.

No, the lottery is only for draft picks outside the playoffs.
