It's because outside of Boeser and on the periphery maybe Horvat, they are the worst team in the NHL.

The Senators , even with scrubs activated have far more high end NHL talent, so of course they are going to finish higher than the Canucks.

The Canucks have a bunch of plugs playing for their lives too, but they've got no Karlsson/Hoffman/Duchene/Anderson to win games for them, even in tank mode (which isnt a thing for players).

edit: fun fact, the Nucks are paying Luongo 800k for 4 more years lol.

Melnyk is happy because he makes his Seattle expansion dollars and doesn't have to pay Karlsson or Ryan, and the stupid fans will still give him an average attendance of 14K for him to budget and profit on.
